Your Other Internet Identities?

I’m only Bren_Cameron here and on livejournal. I’m hautdesert pretty much everywhere else, except for when I was running a Peter Gabriel fan site, then I was Eve. I’ve pretty much abandoned the site, and hautdesert is almost always available when I’m signing up for things.

I was Maharet when I first got on the internet. I got sick of answering the questions about that name, so I changed to Caz, a common contraction of my given name Carol. Eventually I became Cazzle. Since then, Mr Cazzle has morphed my name into Tarzy and I use that name elsewhere.

I’ve never created an identity on the net that wasn’t my own. I’ve had a few encounters with people who have, and while I’ve come to accept that not everyone is who they say they are, I’m still amazed that people have the time and energy to put into being someone they’re not. I don’t think I could keep my lies straight long enough to get away with it for more than a couple of days, but recently I witnessed the unmasking of a character who’d made up an entire life that wasn’t her own and maintained the fiction for three years before she got busted. That’s a serious talent!

And now, after I’ve had my one permitted name change here, and I’ve started being noticed by more posters, I regret not having told the admins that I wanted to be known as Rusty Juggs. At least people would be less likely to misspell it when they refer to me.

I don’t believe we have that nickname for Carol here in the States, but I love it! Our receptionist at work is named Carol…I wonder if she’d notice if I started calling her “Caz”…

I’m zoogirl here, on 3F and SickthingsUK. It was taken for LJ, so I had to settle for The zoogirl.

What you see if what you get. I don’t bother making stuff up, cause, like, why? If I didn’t want to be part of a community I wouldn’t be here and it’s darn hard to trust other people if you lying yourself.

I have kept the ‘flaming’ thing going for quiet a while. Whenever I have to make a username, I put something after flaming. So far I’ve got this one, flamingcheesedoodle, flamingrivers, flamingpen…

It also works for Karen

My other user names have usually had to do with either Chaucer or Dali (chauceriangirl, superchaucerfreak, dilly4dali). But I’ve always been myself. Because I really am a super Chaucer freak.

This is the only place I actually use the name Dante. It’s from my first email account at hotmail. Everywhere else on the internet I’m known as Big Head Web.

When I sign up for anything online and they ask for my “real” name, I always use Laslo Panaflex or Gardiner Westbound. And I live at 137 Iquant Drive, in Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

I often use variations of Pithecanthropus.

Back in 1994 and 1995, during the internet’s infancy, I often used “Mr. Neutron” because I love that Monty Python sketch.

I’m the only Meatros on the net. I think I might have another username floating around out there, but I don’t have the foggiest idea of what it would be…

Now adays it is usually just ZebraShaSha. I have no idea where it came from I just loved the way it sounded together. I also have, on AIM, many different names. Like the cowboy that was my hero in health class that would always teach me lessons in my mind untill the day he manifested himself out of a fry box. He was always my hero inside. Cowboy Cowdung was his name. I also had SirAvio that I used for awhile because I liked to tell people that it was “Mr. Fly” in Latin. People are stupid. I also have had “imadesporado” spelled wrong and everything as a complete and total joke that no one got. Hmm… Oh, yea. I also have had Dominatrix Dale to scare people, Uberdork Bot to scare even more people, something like AimAdmin to coax passwords out of people and then laugh at them for being stupid, and I think eatmorchicken was one I used for awhile.

Man, I need a life.

Jeeze, I’m really only worthy of an ‘identity’ here. While I post at some handy man and woodworking boards, I don’t think I have 50 posts combined outside of here.

I’m just me.

I’ve only been using a computer for 8 years. The first thing I signed up for was a Yahoo mail account, where my username is a phrase from a Beatles song. It’s also my name on ICQ, which I don’t use anymore, and MSN Messenger, but I don’t think you’d find me. I opted out of the directory, and my brother is the only person on my buddies list. I don’t do chat with strangers.

This is the first message board I’ve ever seen, and when prompted to come up with a username, I picked this stupid one based on the phrase “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle”. Well, I’ve got over 500 posts here under that name, so there’s no point in changing it now, however stupid it is.

On Usenet, I’m the name my mother almost gave me before I was born. First name only. I don’t think I’ve posted my real name anywhere except attached to my Yahoo name on a Beatles website or two.

I don’t know anything about role-playing or creating alternate personae, so I’ve never done any of that.

I am generally Rhiannon8404, although I have also been known as Charliesmom and stklnmeanie.

Do I know you?
Anyway, I go to many message boards…on a bunch I actually have the name Simply A Newbie and on others just SAN.

On one I have the weird sign ~~~ and on some (including my own) I just go by Chris.

Can any of us ever really know another person?

Seriously, though: I can’t tell if this was asked sarcastically, but in case you recognize my user name(s) the answer is “I dunno.” As I said, “Misnomer” is not very distinctive, and is often already in use – so you might know a Misnomer that isn’t me.

What’s kind of funny is that long, long ago on a message board far, far away I did know a Chris from Arizona, but if the birthdate in your profile is accurate she was older than you – and she was a ‘she,’ which I believe you are not.

I was always Andygirl until I came here and found there already was one. Funny, I barely ever see her on here. We must post in different areas.

I also go by Sabine Lavine on two other message boards.

Since I’ve been on the web I have used some form of my screen name most of the time.

On Socom II online I am KryHavok.

anyone frequent or used to frequent the ign boards, well specifically the vestibule?
