Is the word cunt that much of an issue? It means no more to me than bitch or any other word you could only call a woman.
It might be an issue related to age…it seems that as time goes on, younger people appropriate certain “off-color” words and use them enough to rid them of much of the original connotation. For example, ‘bitch’ was a HUGE insult at one point, and now many women are proud to be called that. Same with slut. Hell, I don’t think that I’ve ever had a female friend that was truly offended if called a slut. I’ve heard it more as a joke than I have as a dig.
To me, the biggest insults I can receive insult my intelligence, not my sex. If someone calls me ‘stupid,’ THAT is an insult. ‘Cunt?’ That’s just a lack of REAL ammunition. Once that word is thrown into play, I’ve won. In all reality, it’s an unintended compliment.
Of course, if in 10 years people throw the phrase ‘cum-guzzling road whore’ around, I might find that offensive. At this point, though, I just do NOT get why women would bother to be bothered by a word. After all, if someone has a REAL argument to use, wouldn’t they use it first before degrading the conversation into personal insults?
WARNING, the following is jmo -
I find the c word very offensive. I don’t mean to say that a person can’t use that word if they want, but if they use it to me ,I will waste no time in letting them know exactly how I feel about it.
I have no idea why I hate that so badly, but I do, it just seems to go way beyond nasty . More into the area of scuzzy.

You sound reasonable. Must be time to up my medication.
Just my own personal opinion, so don’t go ballistic on me here. I’m just telling you how I feel about it. It isn’t so much word itself, but whenever I hear a person say it, expecially a woman, I think to myself “Gawd, ain’t you a classy skank.” I can’t help it, it just happens.

Seven days of sex makes a whole week.
Is this some sort of female conspiracy? My wife loathes the c word. I can’t even use it to refer to somebody she doesn’t like!
The dope slaps were getting to me, so I dropped it from my vocabulary a long time ago. At home, that is.
Diane and I had a little bit of a rough meeting because we used the same adorable ascii (even the commas for eyes, instead of periods) in our sigs. This was a long long time ago though.
I don’t find the word “cunt” to be terribly offensive. I don’t like it, to be sure, but I don’t like being called a stupid doo-doo head either. It’s about the same level of offensiveness. What I find offensive is the word “twat”. When someone calls me a cunt, I laugh it off. Someone calls me a twat, they get slapped into the middle of next week. I don’t know why twat should bother me when cunt does not, but it does.
I don’t mind being called a “bitch” or a “slut”, either. Who am I to argue with the truth?
Modest? You bet I’m modest! I am the queen of modesty!
Wally has (perhaps unintentionally) made the point that came to me - when he mentioned that his wife is offended even if he’s speaking of someone they both dislike. Why would I be okay with a term that refers to a part of my anatomy being used as an insult? Just funny that way… reminds me too much of other days when one could be insulted with such terms as “shiftless as a nigger” or “lazy as a spic.” I assume that the people in those group didn’t care for the generalizations, although I do realize it’s an over-the-top analogy. Maybe I am over-reacting, but if you think my cunt, twat, pussy etc. is a negative concept, you are sure not getting close enough to confirm your prejudice.
