Your 'simple' requests for the holiday weekend

I thought this was simpler than it turned out to be: I’m freezing and I don’t have a roommate. If I could walk I’d turn down/off the air conditioner myself, but instead I asked the nurse to do it.

“But it’s going to be hot later. I’ll leave it on.”

You might say that this makes sense. The staff isn’t there to hop to it whenever I get cold or hot, except laying around I don’t get hot and need to be told that the room is stifling. Right now I’m cold, but I’m being told to stay cold because someone else is planning around the next time she comes in for a visit that lasts less than a minute.

I hate to be cold. I’m so sorry you are being tended to by someone so uncaring about your comfort in your own room.

Can you request more blankets or more clothing at least?

I’m wearing a jacket backwards to cover my arms and an aide just handed me an enormous bedspread to hide under. It would’ve been easier to just turn off the air conditioner, but I take what I can get.

Thursday started the third week since my TV stopped working. Maintenance came by early on, fiddled with something, and said it’s not working . Duh.

And you people thought I’ve been spending more time here because I missed you.

I have a lump of wax in my right ear that shifts around and leaves me half deaf. Will a medical type look at it and get me some ear drops or Q tips so I can treat it myself? No. If I order it from Amazon will they confiscate it? Probably.
