Your teams' world/national championships during your fandom

As a Los Angeleno who happened to be a freshman in high school the year the Lakers drafted Magic, I’ve been pretty fortunate as a fan:

Lakers (1979), 10*: 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010

Dodgers (1972-ish) 2: 1981, 1988, 2017 (heh-heh-heh)

USC Football (1972) 5: 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003, 2004 (Eff the NCAA; I’m not giving back the 2004 title)

Rams (1972)1 (sticky): 1999. The Rams were pretty much dead to me when they relocated to St. Louis, but the laundry – and the high-powered offense – eventually got to me. But if someone claimed I don’t deserve to claim that one as mine, I wouldn’t argue.

*Thank you, New Orleans Jazz, for signing Gail Goodrich as a free agent and thus giving up your 1st rounder as compensation – yes, that’s how the Lakers got the rights to Magic Johnson)

Boston Red Sox fan since '77: 1986 (lost), 2004, 2007, 2013
Yakult Swallows fan since '14: 2015 (lost, but got tickets to see them in the Japan Series)

My top team in any professional sport is the Cleveland one, so the Cavs this year are the only tick in that column. I don’t really pay any attention at all to pro hockey-- If I did, the Penguins would probably be my preferred team, but I have no idea what championships they’ve won or when.

My second and third-favorite football teams are the Steelers and the Packers, both of whom have had their share of Superbowls, so I can’t complain there.

The only college sport I care particularly about is Villanova basketball, who won this year. So I can’t complain there, either.

And at the high school level, my alma mater, the Benedictine Bengals, have been state champs a few times in football, and I don’t think there’s such a thing as a national high school championship, so that’s cool too.

Oh, and a couple of friends of mine were on the national championship Ultimate Frisbee team one year, if that counts.

Pros

3x- Ottawa Rough Riders/Redblacks - '73, '76, 2016! - Grey Cup Champions!

5x- Dallas Cowboys - '72, '78, '92, '93, '96 - Superbowl

2x- Toronto Blue Jays - '92, '93 - World Series
Internationals:

15x- Canada - '85, '88, '90, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '97, '05, '06, '07, '08, '09, '15 - IIHF World Junior Champs

7x- Canada - '94, '97, '03, '04, '07, '15, '16 - IIHF World Champions

4x- Canada - '02, '06, '10, '14 - Olympic Gold Medal Mens Hockey

Amateur:

2x- Ottawa 67’s - '84, '97 - Memorial Cup/ CHL Champs.

12x- Carleton Ravens - '03, ‘04’, '05, '06, '07, '09, '11, '12, '13, '14, '15, '16 - CIS Mens Basketball National Champs!

Packers: 96 and 10.

Wisconsin hasn’t done too terribly much in my lifetime.

I think it’s pretty safe to say my college will NEVER win a championship, although Ms. Cups’ college might, so I’ll count hers by proxy

My high school just won its first football state championship, so I guess I can add that to the OP. It has also won several basketball championships, particularly when Shaun Livingston played for them.

Like Procrustus, a Seattle fan. So count the 2013 Seahawks (2014 Super Bowl), and also “still waiting” for the Mariners. In addition, I count the 1996 “near miss” NBA Finals. The Sonics woulda won if it’d been against anyone but the '95-'96 Bulls.

Mine just did too actually.

My old English teacher is their coach now. We used to be totally bottom-of-the-barrel in football when I went there, my how things have changed in 12 years

I have shifted allegiances during my life due to Northern/California residency and family rooting interests:

1995 UCLA NCAA Men’s Basketball
2002 Anaheim Angels MLB
2010 San Francisco Giants MLB
2012 San Francisco Giants MLB
2014 San Francisco Giants MLB
2014-15 Golden State Warriors NBA

No entry for San Jose Sharks (which is only a very passing interest), or for NFL (I was an LA Rams fan, then a Miami Dolphins fan, then N/A). Furthermore, becoming a Cal alum has not done much to improve my prospects of adding collegiate championships.

Been a Padres fan since I started watching baseball in the late 70’s. Never really followed football while we lived in Yuma (Padres spring training used to be there at Desert Sun Stadium).
San Diego Padres - 0

Moved to Carolinas and started watching football, so
Carolina Panthers - 0

I really don’t like basketball (all rules seem to favor offense) and I never really tried Hockey, but I hear it’s a great sport.

I guess I’m just bad at picking where to live and which team to root for.
