Your Thesis/Dissertation title and length here, please.

Mine (for an M.A. in Media Communications, Public Relations emphasis): “Essential Stakeholder Management Functions for Small College and University Athletic Programs.”

Geeeeeeeee golly, its gonna be exciting. All 75-90 pages of it.

“A Simulation Study of the Analysis of Mixtures Using the Cramer-Von Mises Statistic” (M.S. Mathematics, Statistics concentration, 1982, ~87 pages).

The study showed that the Cramer-Von Mises statistic sucked at analyzing mixtures.

“Making Sense of the Jonestown Suicides: A Sociological History of the Peoples Temple” (PhD, sociology of religion, 1983, about 225 pp., as I recall)

“Parish, People and the English Bible, 1525-1553,” D.Phil Modern History, Michaelmas 2003 (one hopes), 319 pages with bibliography, appendices and maps.

“An Anaylsis of the Church-Plate Certificates of 1547-53 in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex,” M.St Modern History, Trinity 1996, ~40 pages.

“Pure and Unmixt: Sir John Cheke’s English Bible,” M.A. Modern History, Summer 1995, 67 pages.

“Thomas Cromwell and the English Bible: A Study in Motivation,” B.A. Honors Modern History, Spring 1994, 45 pages.

Well, that should cover it.

“Empty as a Bucket, or: Damn Dumb Kid.” It will be somewhere between 150-200 pages, for an MFA in fiction at St. Mary’s of California.

“The State of Lesbian Detective Fiction in Four Public Libraries in North Carolina” M.S., Library Science, 44 pages

“The Preparation Orientations of Undergraduate Departments”
PhD in Higher Education, maybe around 200 pages (can’t recall precisely).

No colon in the title, yet they still gave me the degree!

“The Origin of Wide Angle Tailed Radio Galaxies” I’m still working on it :stuck_out_tongue:

“Experimental Investigation of Stress and Strain Fields in a Ductile Matrix Surrounding an Elastic Inclusion,” Ph.D., Materials Engineering, 1997. 165 pages of text, plus 81 pages of code (image analysis and analytical modeling routines).

Does undergrad count?

“The Constitutionality of Same-Sex Marriage” (B.A. in Political Science with Departmental Honors) – 60 pgs

M.A. thesis: “Courtship, Seduction, and Power in Shakespeare’s First Tetralogy.” 37-ish pages, I think. (I am a Person of Few Words, and I remember frantically trying out different typefaces so it would be over the 35-page minimum limit.)

PhD dissertation: “Commoners and Communities in the Elizabethan History Play.” I’ve only written eight pages, so I don’t know how long it’s going to be, but once again I’m shooting for as short as possible.

Both in English, obviously.

MURP (Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning):

“A Community-Based Urban Design Evaluation Process for the Carytown Neighborhood.” I think it was about 150 pages with maps and graphics.

A co-worker got his BSc. in Agricultural Engineering and his thesis was entitled “The Use of a Geographic Information System to Determine Optimal Placement of a Center Pivot Irrigation System in an Irregularly Shaped Plot.” I think the title was longer than the actual thesis.

“The Role of CD30 in the Regulation of T Cell Function,” M.Sc., 2003. (I’m giving the library their copy today!) 52 pages, including references.

“Witches in the Library: A Survey of Two Local Neo-pagan Groups, Their Characteristics, Library Usage, and Library Collection Requests,” 2000. Research paper for Masters in Library Science, about 40p. A big survey project, so not all that much text.

The library science ones are interesting - I had a very difficult time choosing a thesis topic, so I’ve chosen to take the comprehensive exam in the spring of 2004 and do the culminating experience (seminar, knowledge management, this semester).
For my undergrad I wrote my senior thesis on myths surrounding pregnancy and childbirth in medieval Europe. It was around 25 pages, IIRC.

Bachelor’s – A Biomechanical Study of a Karate Strike

Master’s – A KCl:O2- Laser

Doctorate- **Rotational Behavior and Vibrational Energy Transfer between CN- ions in Alkali Halides **

Yep, I had to write three theses.

PhD: The development of a thermostable methanation catalyst, Delft (1984) about 100 pages.

Bachelor’s (Environmental Science) – Understanding the Exponential Growth of Duckweed about 25 pages.

Lots of classes, but no post degrees. :stuck_out_tongue:

Library Science sounds so interesting. Maybe I’m weird like that.

“Near Liberty And Other Fictions”: a creative writing/American Lit dissertation, about 200 pages, as I recall.
