I can’t buy into the whole “the island is purgatory” thing.
Why?
It’s been done to death and it would be a real let down. The series will be greatly reduced in my estimation if this turns out to be the truth.

New one.
Wildest WAG yet!
The island is alive. The island has a consciousness. The island is lonely so when a plane crashes near it, killing everyone on board, it makes up stories about them being stranded on it!
I’d really like to know what the deal is with the sleestak and those pylons.
I just thought of a goodie, that fits in with all the literary tie-ins (Rousseau, Locke, etc.).
Sawyer called Hurley “Stay-Puft,” so instead of Hurley being God, he’s actually Gozer the Gozerian, returned to destroy the world!
Whatcha think of that?
Oh, and if Walt ends up being the first one to spot a plane flying overhead and goes running down the beach pointing at it yelling, “de plane! de plane!”, I will be Quite. Put. Out.
More Hurley spec. I’ve been thinking this one for a while but the backgammon game with Walt brought it to the front. I think he’s a rich computer game programmer. He probably still acts like he doesn’t have money so doesn’t bother to fly first class or spend much money. But when Walt said “you owe me $20,000”, Hurley’s “you’ll get it” seemed genuine to me.
So many people here talking about Hurley being god is starting to affect me. The actor posts on thefuselage.com and his SN is “I think I’m gonna Hurley” but on some threads it only shows “I think I’m go”, so when I first saw it I thought is was “I think I’m god.”
