What one "Lost" mystery do you most care about getting an explanation for?

And, which would you be most surprised to get an answer to?

With Lost’s last season just about to end, I thought it might be cool to start thinking about what we want from it. I’ve been waiting since the premiere for the show to wind up and am glad it is finally going to end. I hope they can do a good job and I kind of think they can.

I got this idea from Alan Sepinwall, by the way, who has a wonderful blog you should all read.

Let’s not let this be a “Lost bash fest”, where people complain about the show.

I’ll go first:

Most important to get: What, basically anyway, is the Island? I don’t need a full answer, but at least something.

Most surprised if we get solved: How did all these people get “chosen” to be on the Island? I just don’t think they can explain it.

I’m curious about why Richard Alpert doesn’t age.

And I know you said ‘one’ but I’m also curious how they are going to go about dealing with the ‘reset’.

Besides the ones already mentioned:

What was up with Libby being in the mental ward with Hurley? I think I remember reading something where the producers said they don’t intend to revist that one.

Oh and I’d like to know what happened to Claire. I liked her. :frowning:

It used to be the statue foot. Now it’s the relationship between Jacob and his nemesis.

Really? That one seemed like it would be kind of important to revisit, IMO (didn’t Libby meet Desmond on the outside, as well?).

I really just wanna know who the others “are.” We’ve seen them know for four seasons, but we really don’t know what the deal with them is. And why people who have been captured (like Cindy) seem pretty happy.

Who built that frakking four-toed statue?

I’d like to know how so many people are able to find an island that not only moves from place to place in the ocean but also skips through time.

Yeah, this would be cool to learn as well. I’m guessing people have been on the island since ancient times.

IIRC, the actress didn’t like being killed off in the show, so she has been uncooperative in coming back. That should get her more gigs.

Question I most want to know: what is the island and who built it?
Question I don’t care about: Why these people?

They’ve neglected Walt in the storyline for quite awhile. We had maybe 45 seconds of him and Locke talking together in the past season, and it didn’t explain anything about why he was special or how he helped Locke after Ben shot him.

I forgot about the whispers. They were prevalent in the first 4 seasons, but not in the 5th (I wonder if they were from time travel).

That’s already been answered, at least if you watched the re-run of Season 5 Finale with the pop-ups that aired on Tuesday this week. I usually don’t like those pop-ups, but these were quite interesting.

ETA: Anyone interested in seeing if his/her mystery has an answer already, check out Lostpedia. Go to the bottom and look for “mysteries”.

The numbers. They made such a huge deal about the numbers in the first two seasons, and they’ve rarely or never been mentioned from season 3 on.

I’m curious why I can’t stop watching this piece of crap.

From Lostpedia:
It has been revealed in The Lost Experience that these six numbers are the core values of the Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula designed to predict the end of humanity. The numbers in actuality are said to represent human and environmental factors in the equation (given numerical form), though their precise meaning is uncertain. One purpose of the DHARMA Initiative was to change the factors leading to humanity’s demise, which will be indicated by an alteration in at least one of the human/environmental factors - i.e. the numbers. However, in all its years of research, the Initiative failed to reach its goal. Despite much research and manipulation of the equation’s values, the end result was always the numbers.

In an interview with E! in 2009, Damon stated the following in regards to the Numbers: “Here’s the story with numbers. The Hanso Foundation that started the Dharma Initiative hired this guy Valenzetti to basically work on this equation to determine what was the probability of the world ending in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Valenzetti basically deduced that it was 100 percent within the next 27 years, so the Hanso Foundation started the Dharma Initiative in an effort to try to change the variables in the equation so that mankind wouldn’t wipe it itself out.”
Always nice to have one of these in a thread.

Anyways, for me:

I hope (and expect) that they will elucidate the conflict between Jacob and the Man in Black, and let us know which of them has been behind the various manifestations we’ve seen throughout the years. The rest of it is a side dish.

I don’t think we’re going to get much in the way of resolution regarding Libby. On a related note, Cynthia Watros is a twit and is getting some bad career advice from somebody.

What is the island; WHY is the island…ditto the damn Smoke Monster.
