I’m jealous.
Oh yes, most definitely better to make a lot of money than a little money (says I, posting from work so I can call overseas - Australian time zones for the lose!)
Cheers,

Oh! Oh! I’m so excited for you! How are you going to celebrate? I know you don’t want to rush out and raise your standard of living so that you spend all your new-found earnings. But you should seriously buy yourself a new suit! Or a book! Or whatever else you have a craving for.
Did you get a new office or a bigger cubicle? Access to better office supplies? Do you get to tell people what to do now?
So! Exciting!
Well, I’ve increased my automatic savings per week (boringly) for the amount of the raise - starting next week! This week, I am buying books and shoes, and a new computer game. We’re already looking for a house to buy, and so we’ve been really good with money. Plus, I was the financial manager, so I’m good with money anyway. But one week’s pay of frivolity, yeah, I’m gonna do that.
We are one of those rare places where we have actual offices with doors. I do get the bigger office with the window wall (with a stunning view of the parking lot and the loading dock door, whoo hoo!) Of course, its HOT in summer and COLD in winter, but I have a window wall, so there you go. I’s impawtant! I do get to tell people what to do - but I got to do that before, now I just get to tell more people what to do, and make decisions without running it by half the office first. We’re not a huge office, but we’re part of a huge multi-national. I think the best perk is I now get to go to the AGM in Japan this year (its split between Japan and Australia, as we are both small parts of a big Italian coffee company.) I still have gorgeous Italian men making me coffee in the morning, but that’s mostly because I have proven to be dangerous with milk. (Espresso coffee, I can do, the boys have taught me well. Stretching milk, I don’t actually do very well, and I have the distinction of being the only person they have ever seen manage to get milk on the ceiling. I get a lot of, “Oh NO, Bella, NO, don’t touch…er…I’m happy to make you coffee, allow me!” :smack: )
Office supplies, meh, we don’t lock the cabinet (there’s 5 people in our office, not counting the drivers and the warehouse and the shop that can get to it, so its not that big a deal, and nobody is uptight about what you order. My CEO is cool like that.)
I think, though, I will get me a red Swingline stapler in the next order. It’s good to be king!
Cheers,
G
Woohoo! Congratulations! Wishing you luck and joy in your new career!
