OTOH, one of the best Chicago area clubs back in the 60s was the Cellar in Arlington Heights, which goes to show about assumptions. But my assumptions about a club in DesPlaines would be pretty much in line with the reality you experienced. One can win big by betting on long shots but there is a reason their odds are so poor.
