You're sitting on the floor. Why?

Good thing the floor was here to catch me as I fell. Alcohol may have been involved.

To play with the cats. Or to brush them.

Either way, it’s about the feline overlords.

Because I want to see if I can get up without using my hands.

Prolly working on something.

Everybody’s got to be somewhere.

You were staring at me from outside and humping your fence. It wasn’t a good look.

I find it comfortable to sit on the floor/ground with my back against a solid object like a tree, wall or rock. I blame it on growing up with really cheap old furniture.

There was probably a very large dog involved, most likely leaning against me with all 160 pounds plus leg strength.

 Danes!

Gravity’s a bitch…

No, I actually have a chair – a computer chair, which is a plastic stackable from WalMart via yarddsale. But I sleep on the floor.

Playing with my dogs.

The floor is hot lava, why would I sit there? Making my way to the kitchen is hard enough with out burnt ass cheeks.

+1. Sometimes, I like to sit on the carpet, with my back against the couch.

I think “My Outer Child (or outer Grandchild)” should have been a possible response, as that seems to be the leading contender so far.

Connie Willis told me to.

OK, smartass answer aside, I tend to do a lot of my woodworking that way. Tiny old house and crowded garage doesn’t leave a lot of room for a workbench – at least a workbench that doesn’t immediately get filled up with crap.

I sometimes sit on the floor in front of my wife’s recliner so that she can rub on my neck and shoulders.

I also have a fish tank that is pretty low to the ground right now. If I feel like watching them close up for any length of time, sitting on the floor is actually the most comfortable way to do that.

Occasionally, I let paperwork pile up to the point where sorting it is best done by sitting in the middle of the floor and creating piles all around me. If it gets that bad, even my tables don’t have enough space to spread it all out the way I’d like.

Multiple reasons, none of which are offered as options, btw.

Maintaining or fixing something that can’t easily be elevated to a working height.
Playing a board game - my coffee table is open underneath so there’s room for legs. I prefer to play in the living room (w/ music) rather than the kitchen.
Eating while watching a movie on my TV - see definition of coffee table above.
Playing with grandkids - I sincerely wish this was at the top of the list, but most of them are 1,000 miles away.
Use to be helping kids with homework - see definition of coffee table above.
Use to be to play with or care for dogs (one at a time, over the years).
Use to be to give SO foot, leg rubs or pedicure.

Usually it’s because I tripped and lost my balance. I have mobility and balance issues. I usually get around OK, but once in awhile I’ll have the occasional mishap. I’m fine getting up if I can crawl over to the couch and use it to support myself.

“She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.
I sat on the rug, biding my time, drinking her wine…”
–The Beatles, “Norwegian Wood”

It’s hard to do sit-ups or planks on a chair. And it’s hard for me to get up from the floor. So sometimes, there’s some sitting involved between and after.
