YouTube Allowed Back into Thailand

The Thai government recently lifted its ban on YouTube and stopped blocking the site. YouTube cut some sort of deal in which videos deemed objectionable by Thai standards will be censored from viewing in Thailand. Some sort of software does this, I guess; not sure how that works.

The website itworld.com posted an article here exoriating YouTube for cutting the deal. I, too, hate to see YouTube back down on this sort of thing myself. Just about anyone here could still watch the website during the ban anyway, by using a proxy server (although some proxy-server sites have also been banned.)

BTW: The article mentions: “A Swiss national living in Thailand got slapped with a 10-year jail sentence for defacing images of the king.” Actually, he got slapped with I think it was 75 years, but he received a royal pardon after a week or two in jail and was deported back to Switzerland.
