Is there a way to block a specific channel on YouTube?
I know there are settings which permit the user to say they would prefer to see videos which fit into a certain age category.
However, there does not appear to be a way to build a list of channels which I don’t want to see ever again. I don’t want them to appear in the suggested video list once they are placed on my “blocked” list.
I know I am not the first person to ask for this, as complaints are all over the web. I have searched, but have not found anything that would be described as a simple solution.
I can understand YouTube’s desire to shove everything and anything at their users, but it is not a good long term business strategy.
Is this a problem that YouTube simply does not want to solve, or have they made it impossible for a browser like firefox to not permit a plug-in to do this easily?
I can block ads, but I can’t block an annoying channel? This seems strange to me, as I would think YouTube would prefer that I stay on their site and not look for an alternative instead of forcing me to self-filter channels that waste my time and/or make YouTube a less desireable web destination.
Hope this is clear. I see this as a simple “block list”, where I can add a channel to the list, and that list can be updated easily whenever I encounter a channel I never want to see again. From a technical perspective, this should be easy, which is why I believe YouTube (i.e. Google) is making it difficult, if not impossible, to implement.
If anyone has a solution to this, please provide the broswer required and the plug-in (or whatever) needed.
Thanks!
