YouTube video issue

Hello Everyone,
I work at a public school and we have wifi access. The signal is strong and while a lot of sites are blocked, including this one, YouTube is full access.

I have noticed that while any video plays just fine I’m having problems when an ad starts playing. The ad will play and if you hit the skip ad button the video seems to have a problem starting again. Almost like the YouTube player can’t connect and resume playing the video.

I can close the window and click on the video link again and it’ll play only to have issues right after an ad plays. If you let the ad play all the way through it seems to work most of the time, with the video resuming. The problem only seems to be when you skip an ad.

Any idea what might be going on? Anything I can do to overcome this issue. And I don’t have this problem when watching YouTube using my mobile data, only on the wifi. This problem has happened at two different schools I’ve been to, so it’s something to do with the wifi.

Ad blockers can prevent the ads from showing at all. I use UBlock Origin. Does a great job.

Another thought:

Try a different browser and see if the problem continues.

I should have specified, I’m actually using the YouTube app on my android phone.

Is the app up to date?

You have an ad blocker that stops the video ads YouTube plays at the start of most of their videos and occasionally in the middle of them?

If so, I may need to switch.

Yup. Stops them all.

Of course, if the YouTuber built the ad into the video itself that can’t be helped (obviously, but just to be clear).

Thank you!!!
