There’s nothing better than being one toke over the line and watching Lawrence Welk. A wonnerful, a wonnerful! Turn on the bubble machine!
Very nice catch call, Earl. Poor Jesus has usually been one Toke over the line in message; I was surprised to see it so blaised on this Welk show clip.
You know how someone will come into a thread and say, “Why did I click that link? I knew better than to do that.” I’m not going to say it, because there’s no way that I’m going to click that link! Even if that means I won’t get eaten first by Cthulu.
An oldie but goody and absolutely hilarious.
Note that the YouTube video is from “shipleyt.” That’s Tom Shipley himself, of Brewer and Shipley, who originally performed this “spiritual.” He was apparently amused.
Strangely enough, Welk himself does not appear in this video.
The only thing that could beat this would be Norma Zimmer singing Melanie’s
“Brand New Key”
They guy holding the baton at the end sure looks and sounds like Lawrence Welk.
Is it just a coincidence that the accordion player coughs during the introduction?
I wasn’t. If this video is to be believed, Welk may have been a total hop head.
You’re right. I wasn’t reading the article- and looking at the video- closely enough.
It’s like hearing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing “Having My Baby”.
