Zabriski Point - obscure question

I watched a DVD of Zabriski Point last night. I won’t comment on the film itself, as the critics have done a pretty good job of panning it.

The scenery in Death Valley was spectacular, but I have a question as to the location of the resort (or perhaps a private residence) in Arizona at the end of the film where a conference was being held.

I’ve read a number of Google hits that seem to tell all about the film except where or what that magnificent place built into the boulders is located, or just what it is.

I will be exceedingly grateful if anybody knows. I live in AZ and know it well, but never saw or heard of this place.

It might be one of these residences.

The first item mentions the movie but it could also be the second. I haven’t seen Zabriskie Point in an age.

Great work, Chez, you found it! It is the very first one on the list. The irony is that we live in Carefree, and that is where it is, but very hidden. I saw it some time ago while climbing a mountain, but it was very far away and from the back so did not recognize it.

Many thanks!

Where, may I ask, did you get a DVD of Zabriskie Point, one of my favorite movies never released on DVD?

It seems to be in stock and available as an import from three different sellers via Amazon.

Ah. “Russian Import.”

Like I said; never been released on DVD. :stuck_out_tongue:

My favourite aspect of this film is that in their detailed review, the guys who wrote The Fifty Worst Films of All Time referred to sexual intercourse as “mufky-fufky”.

Inspired by this thread, I checked out the VHS copy from our library yesterday. I’ve been to Zabriskie Point many times, and I was aware of the film because of the Pink Floyd connection, but I never got around to seeing it before now. Very interesting. Loved the scenery. The story and acting, well…

Yep, that’s “Boulder Reign”. Looks like it survived the explosions after all. The Desert Hideaways website says it was “featured in Bob Hope movies”…?

It’s not very linear, but it’s still a favorite. Imagine it Cinemascope, instead of the abomination that’s on the VHS.
