I’ve seen worse shows, but now I see where this is headed. There are 12 clocks in some form, each has a clue to a location…find all the clocks, find the clues…go there…find more clues.
Yeah, I can see how this might have been a good idea, but I can also see how this could also quickly become tedious. Sort of the eternal scavenger hunt.
We will continue to watch a few more, but won’t be surprised nor wildly upset if the show is canceled before all the clues are discovered - which would probably bring us to going out to find 12 paintings, which would then cause us to have to go find 12 sculptures/buildings/landmarks/coins whatever.
Agreed on all counts. I like Anthony Edwards and the concept is up my alley, but I didn’t last 20 minutes it was so bad. I am so very willing to suspend my disbelief and go along for the ride with this kind of show, but not if people behave like no one in the history of the universe would ever behave. Terrible.
A few inaccuracies: The Nazi SS in Epi 1 were carry the MP40 aka Schmeisser, not made until 1940. not 1938. Altho there were a few earlier prototype versions around as early as 1936, this is still a anachronism.
The SS also didn’t have the clout to go breaking into Catholic Churches and gunning down the inhabitants in 1938.
The SS officer portrayed would much more likely have been a Abwehr officer of the Navy, not a SS. SS were pretty darn idealistic then, and why join? The other choice might be the Ahnenerbe Organization, which did muddle around with stuff like that and was under SS organization.
Next- how on earth could the U-Boot have survived for 70-80 years- and then sink? Huh?
However, according to the above Hollywood Reporter article, chances are good they will air the entire first season sometime over the summer - so just in case you wanted to see how that first and last and only season progresses, you still might be able to do so.
Also, wouldn’t Nazis walking in full uniform through British India have raised a few eyebrows?:dubious:
Before it got cancelled, I was wondering how they were going to keep the story considering they were finding a clock each episode. What were those going to lead to, missing books? Then that leads to another clue and another clue, etc. It would be the most convoluted treasure hunt ever. “National Treasure” would be a walk to the corner store by comparison
Looks like my plan of not bothering with certain shows unless they get picked up for a 2nd season has already paid off. I’ve had enough of this network “instant hit or gone” crap.
I haven’t heard. It was a mid-season replacement, so odds are the network only ordered 12 or 13 eps. The show seemed to be going for a 12-ep arc recovering a clock per episode, so at least that many. Then if it’s picked up you shoot the conclusion with a foreshadow of next season’s quest (you come back with a shrubbery, then you have to cut down a tree with a herring, etc.).
If I were a gambling man, I’d bet they shot no more than 9 before the cancellation notice hit the set. The timeline would be something like they got the word to start shooting after November sweeps resulted in the death of some other show. So starting in mid-December, a week an episode, a week in post, time off for Christmas, they had maybe 6 in the can and one in post when they started airing them in Feb, maybe 3 filmed while the series was airing.
