Zero tolerance run amok again...

From this story:

Officials at the Pittsburgh International Airport wanted to inaugurate a new exhibit at the airport with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. However, the officials could not bring scissors to cut the exhibit into the airport due to airport security. Officials ended up having a ribbon-tearing ceremony instead…

Zev Steinhardt

Not at you, zev, but at them. I guess it’s incidents such as this that might eventually spell the end for zero tolerance; that is, as it affects those in charge…

Why didn’t they have a ribbon-gnawing ceremony instead? Or a ribbon-shredding ceremony?

Sheesh.

Thanks for pointing this out, Zev. The only way to eradicate such foolishness is by shining the spotlight on it.

zev, dan, Dave, please! When the national security and lives are at stake, it’s no time to think!.

All you scoffers will feel awful stupid when someone from the audience at the next ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new airport terminal someplace suddenly rushes up, grabs the scissors, sprints off to a fully fueled 747, forces the pilot to take off at scissorspoint, and then crashes the plane into a nuclear missile silo and triggers World War III and destroys our entire civilization.

C’mon, people…Think of the children! Surely you don’t want all the innocent little children to have to suffer through the horrors of growing up in a post-apocalyptic mutant-infested radioactive wasteland, do you? You should be ashamed of yourselves!

Think of the children? Hell, no! Let 'em get their own scissors. Preferably those safety ones.

With those giant, three-foot long scissors they use for ribbon cutting, **MEBuckner **?
Mor likely they’d snip the wings off. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, **I[/b do…

I think in the future all ribbons should be broken by a local track star running through them.
