Zombie Apocalypse

Username/Post combo of the day!

Good one!

How is your brother Rigg, by the way?

Some of the best and most informative threads are from the past. The board had really good GQ posters in the 00’s. People with specialized backgrounds answering questions. Most of them have drifted away and too busy to post anymore.

Dismissing older threads as Zombies is a disservice.

Some threads are better than others. Some perhaps aren’t worth reviving. But many are and they are often new too me. I wasn’t here before 2009 to read those old threads.

The cue is BANNED posters. Or a three page thread you’ve never seen before suddenly appearing. Or, if you are me, seeing that you’ve already posted what you were planning to post.

I’m not sure that there are more zombie threads now, but they seem to be clustering in certain places, so it just seems that way.

While this is literally true, it obscures the fact that we also have such posters now. Some of them are folks that have been around since then and haven’t drifted away, and others are relatively new posters who weren’t around in the aughts. Though, yes, it is refreshing to see occasional reminders of those who aren’t around any more.

Yes, it is interesting to see so many banned posters from the past. Posters that contributed quite a bit actually, until they made a mistake or two.

Years ago, someone on the Boards pointed out that troll/newbie/etc traffic increases tend to coincide with college breaks. Don’t know if that still holds true, but it sounds reasonable.

Almost always a lot more than that.

People often say that, but I’m not sure that’s ever been established.

It would have made some sense at one point, but I don’t think many college kids today spend anytime on discussion boards.

Now tumblr trolling could be a thing.

frum wat i seen it prbolly aint collge kids or u mite b rite hi skol mabey

Yes, in some cases. Or none at all in others. But I dont get the idea of banning good posters who have made a few mistakes.

This is wrong.

As I said, posters aren’t banned because they made “a few mistakes” (unless those “mistakes” were very serious ones). They were banned for persistently violating rules even after they had been given multiple chances to change their behavior.

Be well!

I have never seen a poster banned for making a few mistakes. In order to get banned, you have to show a consistent pattern of bad behavior.

This is also getting pretty far off topic for a thread about zombies. If you want to discuss bannings, start a new thread.

Thanks!

I recall Marley banning everyone in a fit of pique. And rumor has it he once banned a man just for snoring.

I heard he banned a man in Reno just to watch him not post.
