ZoneAlarm + AntiVirus

Zone Labs is offering Virus Proctection that is integrated with ZoneAlarm. The price is $24.95 with a rebate of $24.95. The price is right, but I would like opinions on the product itself. Is this Virus proctection as good as others? Is it better? Worse? Why?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

ICSA labs certifies antivirus. See if the software is on their list.

Virus Bulletin also gives their 100% awards.

If the antivirus is listed on those, it should be fine.

zonealarm antivirus uses VET protection. here are the results of the tests of the VET system:

It works well for the price, but I do not know how good they are with definition updates. If you are really concernred about viruses, download zonealarm free and purchase one of the big gun AV products like Kaspersky ($35, currently 110,020 viruses in database).

Why would you pay for antivirus protection, when one of the best products available is completely free?

AVG Antivirus.

As far as catching viruses, AVG is one of the worst products. It still has a long way to go.

How much more than 100% protection does AVG have to go?

It didn’t fail the 100% test in the past, but has more recently. And though it’s a useful guide, the 100% test is flawed, since not all the viruses on any list are realistic threats.

I used an antivirus tester program that uses common variants of viruses on my AVG and it failed all the tests (the name of the program slips my mind).
