I’m planning a baby shower for a friend, and the question of party favors came up. Well, who the hell needs a ceramic baby bootie filled with mints, anyhow, says me. So I thought I’d burn a CD for each attendee of songs with “baby” in the title – like “Be My Baby” by the Ronettes. I’d tend to include more oldies pop music (NOT “Baby One More Time” or crap like that, though) because the attendees vary widely in age and musical taste, and oldies are sort of a common musical denominator, in my view.
And everyone knows, when it comes to song lists, the SDMB is the place to go! Please help!

Oh, “baby” isn’t in the title but you have to include Up All Night by the Talking Heads.
Here is a, hopefully, Euty-approved lyrics sampling … but there are plenty of sites on the web with all of them, so if you’re not familiar with the song, do your own search and you’ll see how PERFECT it is for your CD!
Mommy had. A little baby.
There he is. Fast asleep.
He’s just. A little plaything.
Why not. Wake him up?
Cute. Cute. Little baby.
Little pee pee. Little toes.
Now he’s comin’ to me.
Crawl across. The kitchen floor.
~Experienced Mom, who says DON’T YOU DARE WAKE HIM UP.
cmkeller, she doesn’t know the sex yet…but the song you mentioned, I think, is “I Need To Know” by Marc Anthony. Which would be great, because she really likes Marc Anthony. There’s gotta be a way to fit that in somehow…
jk1245, I say “Babe” is good enough. So, “I Got You Babe” will be included. Yay!
Ellen Cherry, you know, that song (and song title, even without the “baby”) will fit perfectly.
Hmmm, methinks the mother lode for this category will be in the R&B/Soul categories…
