Popular songs with the word ''baby'' in the title

I'm planning a baby shower for a friend, and the question of party favors came up. Well, who the hell needs a ceramic baby bootie filled with mints, anyhow, says me. So I thought I'd burn a CD for each attendee of songs with "baby" in the title -- like "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. I'd tend to include more oldies pop music (NOT "Baby One More Time" or crap like that, though) because the attendees vary widely in age and musical taste, and oldies are sort of a common musical denominator, in my view.

And everyone knows, when it comes to song lists, the SDMB is the place to go! Please help!

Oh, "baby" isn't in the title but you have to include Up All Night by the Talking Heads.

Here is a, hopefully, Euty-approved lyrics sampling ... but there are plenty of sites on the web with all of them, so if you're not familiar with the song, do your own search and you'll see how PERFECT it is for your CD!

Mommy had. A little baby.
There he is. Fast asleep.
He's just. A little plaything.
Why not. Wake him up?
Cute. Cute. Little baby.
Little pee pee. Little toes.
Now he's comin' to me.
Crawl across. The kitchen floor.

~Experienced Mom, who says DON'T YOU DARE WAKE HIM UP.

Baby you Can Drive My Car - The Beatles

How about "I Got You Babe" ?

If you extend to "babe", I'd bet you could find a whole lot more.

Does your friend know if the baby is a boy or girl?

Because there's "Come on baby girl, I need to know" by Enrique Iglesias.

cmkeller, she doesn't know the sex yet...but the song you mentioned, I think, is "I Need To Know" by Marc Anthony. Which would be great, because she really likes Marc Anthony. There's gotta be a way to fit that in somehow...

jk1245, I say "Babe" is good enough. So, "I Got You Babe" will be included. Yay!

Ellen Cherry, you know, that song (and song title, even without the "baby") will fit perfectly.

Thanks a bajillion!

Hmmm, methinks the mother lode for this category will be in the R&B/Soul categories...

May I Baby &
Hold It Baby -- Sam & Dave

Ain't It Baby
Ooh Baby Baby
Baby, Baby Don't Cry -- Smokey Robinson & the Miracles

Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standin In the Shadow? -- Rolling Stones [surely the longest "baby" title ever!]

Honorable Mention: "Pink Thing" by XTC. Andy Partridge's love letter to both his newborn son and to his own penis. (Hey, the guy's twisted like a Philly pretzel, & his fans love 'im for it!)

Here's a new wrinkle...I'm thinking maybe I should include some songs like "Oh Boy" by Buddy Holly and "My Girl" by the Temptations.

She's My Baby -- Mazzy Star
Don't Drop the Baby -- The Judybats

Couldn't find any offhand of a third "King," which would've made it three kings for your friend's kid , but there is:

Bossa Nova Baby -- Elvis [Leiber/Stoller]
It's My Own Fault Baby -- B.B. King

Many of these don't techincally have "baby" in the title, just in the first line.

But there's always [b]I Can't Give You Anything Buy Love (Baby)[b] Especially appropriate if you're giving someone a leopard.

Also:
Abie Baby (original cast of hair)
I Found a Million Dollar Baby (in a Five and Ten Cent Store) by Harry Warren. Warren also wrote Baby Doll, Baby Have You Got a Little Love to Spare, Bad Baby, 'Cause My Baby Says It's So, I Love My Baby (and my Baby Loves Me), Me and My Baby, and, of course You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby

Every Baby Cries The Same
- The Make Up

Doesn't matter if they're big. Fat babies
Doesn't matter if they're small. Thin babies
Doesn't matter if they're sophisticated. City babies
Or if they are all country. Country babies
Oh baby at least to me
At least to these ears
Every baby. Every baby cries the same

I wish I could include that. I truly do, and many of the others listed here. I just don't think they'd go over too well with the crowd I'll be working with.

So far, probable inclusions are:

My Baby Does The Hanky Panky -- Tommy James & The Shondells
Ooh Baby Baby -- Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
Baby, Baby Don't Cry -- Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
Don't Worry, Baby -- The Beach Boys
I Got You Babe -- Sonny & Cher
Stay Up Late -- Talking Heads
Baby, I Need Your Loving -- The Four Tops
Baby, Now That I've Found You -- The Foundations
(You're) Having My Baby -- Paul Anka
Baby, I Love You -- The Ronettes
Baby, It's You -- The Shirelles
Baby Love -- The Supremes
Maybe Baby -- Buddy Holly
Too Busy Thinking About My Baby -- Marvin Gaye

I can't hear "Baby Come Back" without thinking of Homer hearing it while on hold with 911 when Maggie was missing.

One that I actually dedicated on the air to my niece when she was born back in '75:

Star Baby -- The Guess Who

and some more obscure titles, mostly from the bottom half of the Hot 100

I Call My Baby Candy - Jaggerz (1970)

I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby - Baby Washington (1964)

I Dig You, Baby - Jerry Butler (1967)

I Don't Want to Lose You, Baby - Chad & Jeremy (1965)

I Love My Baby - Jill Corey (1957)

I Love My Baby (different song) - Archie Bell & the Drells (1969)

I Love You, Baby - Paul Anka (1957)

I Miss You, Baby - Millie Jackson (1973)

I Want My Baby Back - Jimmy Cross (1965)

I Want to Love You, Baby - Scott & Benson (1969)

I Want You to Be My Baby - Georgia Gibbs (1955)
same song also charted same year by Lillian Briggs
and again in 1967 (though peaking at #83) by Ellie Greenwich

I Want You to Meet My Baby - EydieGorme (1964)

I'm Crazy About My Baby - Marvin Gaye (1963)

I've Got a Thing About You, Baby - Elvis Presley (1974) (#39)
same song in 1972 by Billy Lee Riley reached #92

I've Got Love For My Baby - Young Hearts (1968)

Is You or Is You Ain't My Baby - Buster Brown (1960)

Good luck on finding any of these, except possibly the Elvis and the Georgia Gibbs songs. The latter bumped into the top 20.

To songs come to mind. They are at the opposite ends of the pop music spectrum.

Baby Baby, Can't You Hear My Heartbeat by Herman's Hermits.

Wango Tango, live version, by Ted Nugent. He must say baby 50 times in that song.
