Getting Paint out of Carpet

So I was painting the other day and managed to spill paint on the carpet. I tried to blot it up, but that didn't work. I also tried Turpentine, but again, it didn't work. It's a latex paint (semi-gloss, if that makes a difference) and the carpet is standard shag. Does anyone know of something that will remove the paint?

When I was a painter, I never went anywhere without a can of Goof-Off. You should be able to find it at paint and hardware stores, but be careful--it's pretty strong and I remember doing more harm than good on more than one occasion.

I actually tried Goof Off as well. It worked great for cleaning up the paint on got on the trim, but did nothing for the paint that got on the carpet.

Try 'Simple Green'. It is harmless on fabric (test, don't trust) and you really can't go much stronger than that without damaging the carpet.

You'll be tempted to rub/scrub, but this will damage the fiber and drive the pigment down. Blot....blot and hang in there.

There is a CHANCE...and test this....that mineral spirits and/or acetone (nail polish remover) will not damage the carpet.....they'll destroy the paint, but very often they do no damage to carpet and other materials....

...BUT PLEASE TEST FIRST.
