Old Radio Show Question

A number of years ago, there was a real good automotive question and answer show on the radio. People would call in and discribe a problem with their car and the host would tell them what was wrong and what to do to fix it. My local station quit carrying it when the show switched satilite carriers. The name of the host I belive was Jeff Smith, his theme song was "On The Road Again", and possibly the name of the show was "On the road again with Jeff Smith". It was a live show on saturday mornings. Anyone remember this show, or know what I'm talking about? Is he still on the air?

There is a radio show called Car Talk which is currently broadcast on National Public Radio. It was created by 2 brothers who take call in questions from listeners and help them solve their automobile problems and give advice in a very amusing format. They also have a website: http://www.cartalk.cars.com/

I'm familiar with Car Talk, Don't think much of them. Their forum is pretty good. I posted my problem there and got two opposing answers.

I remember seeing stories about other (more serious) car radio-shows being knocked off the air because of the popularity of Cartalk- and apparently the there's some bitterness about that. But it's been awhile since I saw the story, and I couldn't find any references to it.

From the radio show This American Life, the episode titled Fiasco!.

Act Three. Car Wars. Wisconsin Public Radio wanted to do something simple: start running Car Talk, the most popular single hour on public radio. But to do this, they had to move their local car show About Cars from the morning to the afternoon.
The host of the morning show objected, controversy insued, audits and investigation by the Wisconsin legislature followed. If you listen in Real Audio, don't skip the first segment about a production of Peter Pan that defines the word fiasco.
