All-Star Survivor

Our close personal friends over at RealityNewsOnline tell us that there's going to be an All-Star Survivor.

Assuming they start with 16, 8 men and 8 women, who do you want to see?

Richard Hatch (of course)
Rudy
Matt and Rob from the most recent edition
Brian (I think he'd go down in flames)
Ethan

and two others to be named later

Susan
Vecepia (just to watch her destroyed by people who know how to play the game)
Tina
Teresa

and four others to be named later.

Your picks?

I heard a snippet about this on the radio, and they've got Richard, Rudy and Susan from the first one, Ethan (previous winner), Jerri (the bitchy one from either Australia or Africa), Brian from Thailand, and...that's all I can remember.
I know they mentioned a few more names.

From the thread name, I assumed this was going to be "Washed-Up Celebrity Survivor." But this actually sounds interesting!

A Richard vs. Rob showdown would be great. Though if the others had a lick of sense, they'd vote those two off first.

I haven't watched since Africa, but a few I'd LOVE to see included:

Michael, Kel and Jeff from Australia. The Black cherry eater from the African adventures. Oh and I did watch one episode of the one after Africa. I'd like to see that lazy chick with the INCREDIBLE floatation rack!

And instead of doing a celeb version, they should do a version with contestants from OTHER reality TV shows!

Evan from Joe Millionaire
Darva from Marry a Multimillionaire
Some losers from American Idol and The Bachelor
etc.

I'd definitely like to see Australia's Michael get another shot. After all, he's the only player to have never gotten a single vote cast against him.

I'd also like to see Africa's Jessie again because she's a babe who got voted off early when she got sick.

It would be interesting to see players like Richard, Tina, Brian, and Vecepia again. All of them would be immediately targeted and it'd be fun to see if they could live up to their rep.

I thought this too at first. But then if Rich and Rob had any sense, they'd ally with each other and pull a few other strong players in with them, making it clear that the only way to get ahead in this game is to stick with the guys who have done it best before.

I think Tina could win it again. She didn't use sneaky tactics. But I could see jealousy kicking in.

As for Richard, he's the first one leaving. Remember the Survivor cast on The Weakest Link? Unanimous hatred!

From the Original show, I would like to see Richard, the orignal strategist; Rudy, the crafty loyal Navy Seal; Sue, with the rat and snake speach; and Gretchen, the military survivalist who never had a chance.

From the Australia season: Tina the best female winner ever; Michael the great leader who left due to burns; Jeff Varner the schemer who stirred things up; Elisabeth, America's sweetheart.

From Africa: Clarence, the kind hearted food stealer; Lex, the person who controlled the game; Theresa the one who gained most by tribe swapping; and Kelly, voted out because of Lex's paranoid belief that she backstabbed him.

From Marquesas: Kathy, the first female schemer who almost won; Rob "the Godfather", who stirred everything up, and got others to doubt everyone else; Gina, who was on the wrong tribe and could have been America's sweetheart; and Paschal to fill the washed up Survivor Daddy role.

From Thailand: Who cares? Helen, the kind, hard-working swim instructor deserves another shot. Shii Ann, a schemer, could make the show interesting.

From Amazon: Rob, the best strategist to date; Deena, who strategized through a lot of adversity. No Jenna and Heidi, please.

However, Mark Burnett says he would like to pick this Survivor based on mixing personalities. Unfortunately, I think that means that Heidi will be there.

I was coming in to add a vote for Lex, but see that survivorlogy.com beat me to it. Lex was one of my all-time favorites.

I also agree with survivorology.com that Helen and Shii Ann from Thailand could be interesting. She and I had discussed Deena -- I liked her (quite a bit -- she was my #1 favorite from Amazon), but I don't know that she necessarily played the game very well; she lacks subtlety.

twickster, but for Rob, Deena would have controlled the game. Let's give Deena the chance to learn from her mistakes. She will overcome!!

The All Star version of the show will be very very different from the regular seasons. All of the contestants will be familiar with each of the others did on their shows. There will already be strong bonds between people from the same casts. For example, everyone knows that Rudy and Rich will be aligned.

In addition, some survivors have met those from other casts and have developed friendships. There could be some totally unknown alliances. How can Mark Burnett Productions keep these contestants from talking to each other before the casting process is complete? Not possible.

Tribe assignments are not going to be a key force in making alliance. Look for a lot of alliance building during the reward challenges and immunity challenges. Tribe mixing will not have a huge effect on the game.

There will have to be some major twists in the game to confound these veteran strategists.

These are the people I would consider put on there:

Richard (original)
Colby (Australia)
Rob (Amazon)
Brian (Thailand)
Lex (Africa)
Rudy (original)
Ethan (Africa)

Elisabeth (Australia)
Susan (original)
Tina (Australia)
Jerri (Australia)
Helen (Thailand)
Kelly (original)

I end up short two women and one guy. But it would be an interesting show.

I think that they would either have to invite all the winners, or none, to avoid any 'politically incorrect' outrage. Imagine if all winners except Vecepia were invited back? You do the math.

But the show would be much better without either Vecepia, or God help us, Jenna.

My choices (I never saw S1, so will go with consensus above)

Men:

Colby (Australia)
Rob-father (Marquesas)
Rob (Amazon)
Brian (Thailand)
Richard (original)
Lex (Africa)
Ethan (Africa)
Michael (Australia)

Women:

Tina (Australia)
Gina (Marquesas)
Kathy (Marquesas)
Susan (original)
Helen (Thailand)
Shiann (Thailand)
Deena (Amazon)
TBD (I can't really find another one who I'd really want to see)

I don't care about looks or nice-ness; I want people who play the game well. I want intrigue, anger, alliances and alliance-breaking, and physically strong people so challenges aren't lopsided.

All of the people who want the 'father-figures' - Big Tom or Pascal, etc. - remember they are now a year or a few years older, and may not hold up as well.

Just watch The Price Is Right. Nine contestants are picked each show, and each and every show, these nine contestants picked match a cross section of society. The contestant coordinators pick these contestants to match their audience. The contestants are older and less athletic than Survivor contestants as a whole.

The same will apply when the All Stars are chosen. There will be a broad cross section. This is not tokenism. There are several qualified former survivors for the producers to choose from.

Many of the survivors picked by responders on this message board reflect that cross section.

How about doing this from the opposite end. Which former players do you not want to see again?

B.B.
Neleh
Paschal
Kimmi
Lindsey
Sarah (okay, I'll allow the last three if they agree to play nude throughout the series)
Seth
Ghandia
Heidi
Joanna
Rob

Rudy Boesch sounds good; he actually had a pretty good chance to win the first one. I'd also like Kelly Clarkson for the same reason, and let's throw in Colleen Haskell for good measure (easy on the eyes and ears and would've easily outlasted Kelly if she won that one IC). Ethan Zohn, Tina Wesson, and Vecepia Lewis (is that right?) all got really lucky at some point; let's see if any of them can do it again.

We should also definitley have some players who made rookie mistakes and deserve a shot at redemption. Sean Kenniff, obviously; now that he's a lot wiser, let's see if he can actually figure out how to win this thing. Michael Skupin (horrific fire accident), that other Mike who tipped his hand at the IC, you get the picture. Definitely Colby Donaldson as well, who's probably sick of explaining himself and deserves this more than anybody.

Who I don't want:

Richard Hatch - Maybe if someone else won Survivor 1, but as it is, I don't see any possible positive outcome for him. He's actually facing a triple whammy here: Built into an almighty supervillain by CBS, not at all popular (probably more so since going back on his promise to build that camp with the winnings), and, of course, a very dangerous competitor. If he has any sense, he'll quit while he's ahead and spare himself the humiliation of an early exit.

Susan Hawk - With the supreme danger of volatile players with boulder-sized chips on their shoulders now well-known, she's going to be marked from day 1. I don't see her lasting to the merge no matter what.

Jerri Manthey - Lord, PLEASE, no. I can't stand another millisecond of her screeching. I don't care how good a player she is, or how devious she schemes, or this, or that, yada yada, NONE OF IT is worth LISTENING to her ever again.

Jenna Morasco - Like Richard, except that she doesn't even have deviousness going for her, and now everyone knows that they gotta take her out early before she becomes a threat. Will go out early without making an impact.

Now you're mixing shows. Kelly Clarkson won American Idol. I think you're thinking of Kelly Wigglesworth.

Another vote against Jerri from Australia. I didn't watch that version, because I couldn't freakin' stand her, and didn't want to subject myself to her for however long it took to get the hell rid of her. I'm really not sure if I could watch an All-Star version if she were on it.

I wonder if the fact that not only do they know Richard is a snake, but the fact that he was SO critical of EVERYONE's strategy and personality in his commentary for ET will play against him?

I will defend Jerri from Australia. Elisabeth from that show says that Jerri is really very nice. She said the one who is not nice is the peas and carrots chef Keith.

I love to hate Jerri. I plain old hate Jenna.

Wigglesworth. Wigglesworth. Wigglesworth.

Dammit. Too much reading about TV, not enough actual TV.

Wow, seeing the list like that -- it's like paging through your high school yearbook, 30 years later.
