In the course of my perambulations last night I was in the neighborhood of the Vancouver Art Gallery, which was being used for a location shoot for Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
I have some frame grabs from video to give y’all a peek. (Apologies for the poor image quality, but I didn’t think it was worth exposing film for, especially since dusk was coming on and the light was bad)
The rear-end of the VAG stands in for *The Coolsonian Criminology Museum*. (The illegible hanging standards advertise “The Works of Mystery, Inc.”)
The area has been marked off with crime scene tape, and there are several vehicles on the spot-- the Coolsville PD, news vans and a satellite truck, and, of course, the Mystery Machine.
I had a pressing engagement (okay, I was going to see Identity, ) so I didn’t wait for the sun to come down to watch them shoot, but they had a crane, and there were extra bushes strategically placed to conceal the traffic on Howe Street from the POV of the museum stairs, so I’d guess they were minimally doing an overhead shot of the vehicles arriving, and a reverse shot of folks exiting them.
They added some huge kleig lights at the bottoms of the doric columns, which I imagine will look pretty nice. For some reason they also attached several stylized boats to the roof of the museum, the largest of which looks more like a multi-array antennae.
