My Triumphant Return

Did you miss me?

Just got back from my two weeks at the Pennsic War, and let's just say that I won't be missing rain again for a few months, as I've had my fill.

Much to tell - slave auctions, our own Medieval version of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," kisses, heartbreaks, parties, schtick, the Ball, seeing old friends, meeting new friends, fun, fun, and more fun.

But, as always, it's good to be home and back with my Q. Life chugs along, and I'll be catching up as best I can over the next week or so.

Esprix

Did you flirt with a cute knight for me?

I have a vision of Queer Eye for the Straight Knight--shaving with a broadsword, sprucing up the old breastplate by manscaping it, tips on assessorizing with chainmail, and cooking with mead. But I want to hear about your version--welcome back!

So did you win? What's the point of having a war if you don't win?

The East won, my former kingdom, but I'm in Caid now, and frankly I don't know who we allied with. (Can you tell I care?)

Eventually I'll post my escapades in my LiveJournal and maybe I can point folks there. I may post a few fun things here as well, if anyone's interested.

I'm still upset that you failed to give Q proper directions to Texarkana for safe-keeping in your absence. He never arrived and I left the back door open the whole time.

You know I was just telling Sauron this week that there must have been some top secret meeting going on somewhere where all you guys got off to. I haven't seen Esprix, Homebrew, Gobear or Mockingbird around much at all.

Don't you love us anymore?

I completely forgot about the war, but nice to know you had fun and good to see you back.

I have a friend who was at the Pennsic War! I don't know her SCA name though. I would say it was a small world, except that I understand several thousand people attend.

We got over 13,000 people from around the world this year.

I missed you, matt!

So - tell, already! How was the Ball? I've heard about it - sadly, am half a world away every August 8(
Do you wear Elizabethan? Italian Renn? Earlier?
More skinny on Queer Eye, too!

I am agog.

I get around...

Well, I meant I've heard about various Balls at Pennsic - but I'm pretty certain Blue Feather was one of them. Some Caidians mentioned it in passing, I think - probably Rhianwen and Umberto, who used to live in Drachenwald. Then again, I could have picked it up off a webpage. Clan Blue Feather was being discussed once on the Rialto, and I remember following some links from there to various web pages, and articles about being GLBT in the Society.

BTW, what's your take on a straight "sympathiser" wearing the Feather? Would it just erk you no end if the mulatto bear in the leather Elizabethans turned out to be a married straight, or would you appreciate my support? Or is there a different token a sympathiser might wear?

Wow. The Ball was referred to as "a Pennsic tradition" this year, but I didn't realize we were known so far and wide. Cool. (I shouldn't be too surprised - after all, this was the 13th Ball!)

And if you wear a dark blue feather (or the device) you are LGBT yourself, but if you wear a light blue feather, you're considered a friend of the Clan. Feel free to wear whichever color you're comfortable with, and encourage others to do so as well!
