Pennsic Bound!

Although I’m sure the Teeming Millions couldn’t give a rat’s ass, I’m excited anyway! I’m leaving very early Saturday morning back to Philadelphia for a few days, then driving out to Pittsburgh for the Pennsic War, and I won’t be back for two weeks.

So, who’ll miss me, and is anyone else going? I’ll be camping with Blue Feather.

Esprix

I’ll miss you.

And if you see a freckly tech guy with really long black hair from Dallas who answers to “Dennis”, please say hi for me.

Cool. I am officially a Tuchuck, but will most likely be camping alone this year in the “Single Campers” spot up near Tuchuck Camp. (I need a break from all of the regimentation for a year.)

I’ll put out a sign on my encampment reading “Chez Creaky” if any Dopers want to come by and visit.

Come on by if you like. Plenty of food and drink and hospitality. I will be arriving Saturday August 11 and staying through August 18.

See ya there!

::snarls at Esprix out of jealousy - in a most loving manner, of course::

I have to save my vacation for surgery, otherwise I’d be there in a heartbeat. [Then again, I did get to go to Gulf Wars X this year.] Take some pictures of the new castle and have a quart of chocolate milk for me.

Hey, let me know your itinerary. Maybe I can buy you a beer or something since you’re gonna be so close to where I live.

Lucky man! The last time I have been to Pennsic was 1993. Pennsic XXII, I guess.

Stop by Jolly Sven’s Bargain Pillage, and have a chat with Morgan Bloodaxe, prop. Awesome guy! Tell him Daff says hello!

O

Vidi Vici Veni!

I’m going for the first time this year; my wife and I plan to arrive Saturday some time. We’ll be camping with the Northshield. I’ll stop by Blue Feather and say howdy. So, Esprix, what are you known as when you’re not full of spirit?

If they’re still publishing Lady Tudor Glitz get me the address of where to buy some copies. Our local RenFest doesn’t have them anymore.

Just e-mail me the address, that would be much appreciated.

And beware of crawdads when skinnydipping.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh! Lady Tudor Glitz! and Beast by Mistress Veleda of Isenfir. I forgot about those books! - I think they’re available through Moongate Designs (great embroidery patterns too).

Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease send me the address or e-mail address also: my collection of these books was lost years ago!

Well, I leave first thing tomorrow morning, and have lots to do between now and then, so I’ll take this opportunity to say bye and hope y’all take care of the Dope while I’m gone!

Esprix

OK, I’m really leaving this time. Really. In about 10 hours. Honest.

Tell me you’ll miss me, dammit! Give me something nice to read when I get back…

Esprix

Bye sweetie.
Have a nice time at the War.

Have fun storming the castle! And if you meet a Fujiwara Tamitomo in the bluefeather area, tell him that Aldric sends regards.

I’m ba-ack…

I’ll post more in a bit, probably in a new thread.

Esprix

Oh, and Pyrrho, e-mail me immediately. Thanks.

Esprix

You’re back! I was going into withdrawal!

I used to be a member, great fantasy-medieval combat group. Sadly, due to a 5 hour commute from PA to Maryland and a faction of *&&$$%'s that forced out the president, I no longer attend.

#1 Any Darkon Members Here?
  #2 Is it still around?

#3 I've been looking for a replacemnt group near Philadelphia. I don't want straight historical accuracy. IMHO, the middle ages were not a fun time to be alive-plagues, religous persecution, countries ruled by inbred royaltie, etc. That and most groups (SCA, Marklyn, Pennsic etc) have combat that I find too risky. I'm a klutz with no coordination. Darkon weapons were soft styrofoam on hard foam on a PVC core. The thought of someone wailing on me (even in armor) is not pleasant. There's also the chance that through poor aim and dumb luck, I'll actually injure someone. Any suggestions?

On a side note, I'm going to the PA RenFest this weekend. I'm sure some of my pals will be going in costume. Rather than the standard lord or knight, I'd like to go as a leper. I know to avoid visible-machine-stitching, denim, and of course synthetic materials. But, what kind of cloth would make the most accurate rags to wrap my diseased flesh? Thanks fer yer help. I've gotta go practice my "Unclean! Unclean!" and "Alms for a poor leper, milord?"
