I'm not getting any email

Every thread I've subscribed to hasn't sent me any email alerts. I tried the once a day setting and I got nothing. Then I tried the every new message setting and still got nothing.

Is this a problem with SDMB or my email?

I'm not receiving thread subscription emails either so I don't think it's your email at fault.

I get them all the time. I have it set for every new message. They seem to be sent in bursts.

Without looking at the specifics and knowing what I've been seeing lately in my own email (which is mostly complaints about not receiving the security emails for password and email address changes), I would say the system is probably having problems.

Lemme look at your specific situations and see if there's anything amiss in your settings. I won't be shocked if I don't find anything, though.

I will tell you that whenever the server seems unduly burdened (which has happened a lot lately), email seems to be the first thing to go wacky.

Sorry about that.

Well, guess what? I was wrong, the system was right!

That happens so rarely, let me sit and savor the moment.

ShadiRoxan, you had your subscription settings clicked to "Off." And GSV, you had "send 1 email daily."

I've changed you both to "instant email notification."

Now, I dunno how truly instant that is, but I'll let you be the guide.

You can change 'em right back to whatever else you like in your user control panel settings if this doesn't work for you.

Hey TubaDiva,

I'm having the same email problem as the above people. That is, I'm not getting any emails. This started about a week ago.

I have just checked my email settings. Subscriptions is on. I have the default set to daily. Can you look into it?

Thanks in advance.

The email notifications still aren't coming through.

I also had a problem when I changed my email address and I got blocked out for a while. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

Same here. Two days ago I got a whole deluge of past emails, but nothing since then.

Does it matter that I have my email through Hotmail? I know HTTP email servers sometimes have the tendency to experience Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Quite a while back I got multiple email notifications without revisiting a thread. For at least six months (maybe much longer), I never got an email notification. My setting is set to send notification immediately. I just clicked off the avator and image options which aren't available anyway and saved my options. Maybe that will fix things -- can someone post a response to this thread as a test?

I would double check to make sure that the email address is correct and there are no extra spaces, etc. Then I would check the "Reset All Fields" box in User CP. Make sure it is set for Instant Notification.Have you or your ISP installed any e-mail spam filters in this time period.? Just throwing out ideas.

Just checked and you are in fact set for instant notification. I just sent an e-mail to the address you have listed to make sure that's working. Let me know.

I have this problem intermittently. I will get no notification for days and then I will get three or four of the same notification... I was told it was just a glitch in the system and that the email notification never worked right...

I just check my usercp tab whenever I visit to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I just received an e-mail from a staff member on an unrelated matter. So, my adress is definitely entered correctly. I can only assume it's a software problem, or that I have somehow offended Uncle Cecil and must atone by taking a duck to an echo canyon and sacrificing it with a 1920's style death ray.

Thy will be done.

Checking in to whine about not getting e-mails, either. I got a few this morning, but none at all since. User CP seems in order. Want me to send you my dog to give the hamsters a break?

I was about to start a thread about this, but I've been beaten to it. I haven't had any e-mail notifications since yesterday either. But the threads I'm subscribed to have been posted in.

Count me into the "no e-mail notifications" group. Haven't had any for 3 days now, and I'm set to instant notification. :-/

I haven't gotten any emails for a couple of days either. I know the email addy and settings are correct (or at least they should be) because it used to work just fine.

I have just gotten 2 e-mail notifications. So, I should be okay. Then again, they were for two replies to the same thread. I can't be certain the problem is fixed. It could be that I'll only receive notifications about that thread. Hmmm.

Hang in there Doc, they must be going in alphabetical order, because I've been getting plenty of notices.

I am now getting e-mail. I will now resist the urge to end this post in a hijack.

Can I switch with someone? I always forget to turn off subscription when I reply to a thread, so I'm getting e-mail when I don't really want it. Also, sometimes I'll get two messages for the same reply :S
