[sub] I miss the top six threads…maybe this thread could be perpetual in its absence[/sub]
What are the five best songs you’ve heard this week? Preferably songs you heard on the radio/tv, but MP3s will do as well. They don’t need to be songs you’ve just heard for the first time, but ones you liked best this week.
my picks for the week ending April 3rd:
Jem “They”
The Stills “Still in Love”
Ivy " Worry About You" (the Kingdom Hospital theme, btw)
Showbag - Perish Union
Sufjan Stevens - Flint (For The Unemployed and Underpaid)
Mates of State - Gotta Get A Problem
Freeway - What We Do
Sia - Breathe Me
The Streets - Fit But You Know It
Captain Beefheart - Trust Us
Guns and Roses - Paradise City
Frank Zappa - Dancin’ Fool
Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World
It’s funny. The Stills seem to have a nice following if these boards are any indication, yet I have never heard them on the radio, and both the stations I listen to are indie stations that play things top 40s stations wouldn’t dream of. If it wasn’t for a video played on The N a month ago, I never would have heard of them. Go figure.
my picks for the week ending April 10th:
Econoline Crush " Digging the Heroine"
The Strokes " Reptilia" (aka the only Strokes song that doesn’t suck)
Echo and the Bunnymen- Bring on the Dancing Horses
New Order- Bizarre Love Triangle
Morrissey- Everyday is Like Sunday
Glen Phillips- Darkest Hour
Peter Murphy- I’ll Fall With Your Knife
1-“Black To Comm”-Lord Sterling-From the Sucking In The 70s" stoner Rock comp. an awesome cover of one of the greatest songs ever.
2-" Rock ‘N’ Roll Drummer Straight From The Hospy-Tel"-Jonathan Richman.
3-“30 Seconds Over Tokyo”-Rocket From The Tombs. 30 years after the fact, Cheetah Chrome and Dave Thomas get together to make the album that should have been made in 1975, with Richard Lloyd replacing Peter Laughner, who couldn’t make it due to being dead. Get this album NOW!
4-“Atheist Peace”-Bad Religion. From the new album The Empire Strikes First. I was all prepared to hate this album, since they’ve sucked ass since generator, but dammit…this album is really good.
5-“Made In Hell”-Halford. My two year old likes to bang his head to this song. This is just like Stained Class era Judas Priest, and it’s got me looking forward to the reunion.
Finch- Perfection Through Silence
TranceControl- Perfecto
Asian Dub Foundation- Fortress Europe
Strong Bad- Theme from Dangeresque II: This Time It’s Not Dangeresque I
Dean Martin- Ain’t Love a Kick in the Head
