Need to find velcro in sheets
I need to find somewhere I can buy velcro. I need it in large surface areas though... minimum 4" wide preferably wider. The best I've been able to find is inch-wide tape.
Anyone have any ideas?

You're making one of those velcro suits, like on Dave Letterman, so you can stick to walls, aren't you?
Can I play? |

Well, I'm a Hallowe'eny type who makes lotsa odd stuff and I have found a chain of stores (Southwestern Ontario) to be remarkable.
Len's Mill Store time and again has surprised me by having stuff I wasn't even sure was actualy manufactured. "Surely no one has such-'n-such.... *gasp* Look, they do!" Even though they are likely far away from you, they may know the name of a manufacturer or something. (Or you could send a Doper in the area to go looking for you.) Their stock seems to vary though, so you have to be lucky too. |

ha! No, actually I'm just really sick of my sofa cushions falling off the sofa. They leap to the floor if you so much as look at them. Since they're only "finished" on one side--you can't turn them over and use them that way--I figure I can velcro 'em down. That'll teach the little bastards.

Canada. They're sort of in the Golden Horshoe region. Near Toronto and Niagara Falls.
If I wasn't about to leave town for a bit I'd walk over to the shops near work (I' within walking distance of the garment district. Neat stuff to be found.) Their toll free number might work if you're in the U.S., some numbers are set-up so they work in both countries, but Len's Mill is a pretty local phenomenon, so I'm not sure. Their smaller stores aren't so good but the big one has lotsa fun stuff. (And a lot of cheap nasty clothes *shudder*) |

I read the thread title and thought "Why would anyone want velcro bedsheets?"
I think I need to get more sleep. |

Try getting a roll of that rubberized shelf liner stuff. It's easy to find in the housewares section and is cheaper than the Velcro would be. It really helps keep lots of stuff in place.

OpalCat,
Try Home Depot or Lowe's. They are carrying a 2in x 15ft roll of Industrial Strength VelcroTM. Here's a link . Also, the suggestion about a non-skid pad is good, too, but you might try the carpet skid pads, since they're a bit sturdier. Luck.

OpalCat: Didn't I tell you what would happen if you did that again?
Dominic: I'm sorry, Mommy. OpalCat: Put on the fuzzy suit. Dominic: Not the fuzzy suit! Please don't velcro me to the wall!! OpalCat: I warned you! Dominic: HELP!!! Disclaimer: This post should not be taken as an indication that OpalCat would ever do that to her son, as she is a very loving Mother, and the Patron Saint of squirrels everywhere. Seriously-if you can't find the 2" stuff at your local big box store Opal, I can order that width in 5 yard or longer rolls from a local industrial supply house and then FedEx it to you. Shoot me an email if you'd like me to order it.

what about magnets.. might be easier to find heavy duty magnets than velcro, though I've never shopped for either

what about nails.. might be easier to find six inch railroad spikes than velcro, though I've only ever shopped for wood screws.
