Has Bill Clinton Planned His Funeral?

Watching the state funeral in Washington, I heard that Reagan had planned all of this, years ago (in his first term). Has Slick Willy done likewise? Does anybody know the details?
I imagine that with their usual flair for publicity. the Clintons will have something spectacular planned.
Who will deliver the funeral eulogy?
And, will Monica attend?
Where will they plant him? Arkansas…or will he wind up in NYC?

I doubt it. And I have STRONG doubts that Ronald Reagan planned his own funeral. From what I was hearing on CNN last night Nancy did most of the planning in the last week or so…assisted by everyone who could, obviously.

All of the former presidents, including Reagan, had funeral plans on file – except for Clinton. I suppose he is not expecting to die soon. Reagan started planning his funeral 20 years ago, and had frequently updated. The recent scramble was to get everything in place.

I heard on the Today show yesterday morning that all presidents are expected to make a funeral plan shortly after taking office. This was done after Kennedy was killed, they said. I’ve also heard that Reagan did have a pretty detailed plan in place. Also, there was a feature on the Twin Cities news earlier this week about a Minnesota soldier who was chosen to participate in the state funeral. They held practices last year because of Reagan’s failing health.

I’d bet on the Clinton Library grounds down by the river, or in Mount Holly cemetary next to David O. Dodd.

I figured the Republicans would build a monument to Clinton. It would be a gigantic, paper-machied, brunette head going down on the Washington monument.

I’m sure they will. My guess is that Clinton doesn’t have anything planned because of his age. He was was the youngest President in quite some time; he was 54 when he left office (he’s 57 now). By contrast, Reagan was 77 and George H. W. Bush was 68.

I’ll bet you it’s not Al Gore. It really depends on which of his major colleagues and advisers is alive twenty or thirty from now. (Is it me, or do ex-Presidents live a long time these days?)

Okay…here’s my question. Just because a President has a funeral plan in place (like so many of us reglur citizens), does that mean it has to be followed? My FIL had a plan. My SIL had a plan. My MIL wanted it done her way and that’s the way it was done. Can Hillary have his brain frozen and shot into outer space if she feels like it? Just like any other spouse?

Just like any other spouse? Are a lot of widows doing the “brain shot into space” thing these days?

I imagine these plans are usually followed pretty closely, the last thing anybody wants to do is piss off the dead ex-President’s family.

once you are pres. you are asked about funeral arrangs. nothing wrong with being prepared in case of a pretzel attack.

the arrangs. maybe changed after you leave office. nixon’s funeral may have gone a bit differently if not for watergate.

They probably would have left out the stake through the heart bit.

No, but Hilary has. Excuse me, did you say “planning” or “plotting.”
