Ebay won't accept my credit card number. I need help!

I'm trying to sell some stuff and it won't accept my credit card number when I try to create a seller account. I've put it in a thousand times now. With the spaces in between the group of numbers, without them, with and without them with different spellings of my name, and all other variations of typing out my credit card number in between. It expires in 2006, and it is a Visa Debit card. Does anyone here know what the problem could be?

Help would be appreciated very much.

When you put the info and hit submit, what happens?

Also, what browser are you using? There's a couple of sites that don't like Mozilla (that's what I use) and I have to use IE.

After filling in all of the fields with the required information I hit the "Continue>" button, and the the screen reloads with the message "The following must be corrected before continuing:

Credit/Debit Card - Please make sure your card number is correct."

at the top of the screen. By the feild where I put in my credit card number there's the message "Please make sure your card number is correct." in red letters. The words "Credit or debit card number" above the credit/debit card number field are now also red to emphasize my error, whatever it may be. As I've said, I've checked my credit card number a thousand times and put in many different combinations of it. I really don't see what the problem could be.

I'm using Internet Explorer.

If you've made absolutely sure you've all the data correctly - acct #, type of card (are you given the choice of debit card/credit card?), exp. date - then you may want to contact ebay.

I use my VISA debit card and it works just fine.

Double check the card's security ID number the are asking for. On MC VISA it's usually a 4 digit number one the face of the, card although on some it's on the back.

Have you moved recently? I used to get the same hassle after I moved, but once the bank database caught up with my move, everything was alright. Since I got my new card (old debit card expired, new one with different # sent to proper address) I have not had that problem.

It has been my experience with Debit cards that (depending on the card verification service that the company uses) sometimes the banks address is attached to the card and not your address, I have had this problem in the past.

Call Ebay

Did you even read his post? eBay accepts debit cards.

Thanks for playing though.

Yes, all the data is correct. And I'm given one field for me to input my "credit/debit card number".

I just noticed a message saying "Creating a seller's account is a free one-time process. However, you'll need to place a credit or debit card on file to become an eBay seller to help verify your identity. Your information is kept safe and private."

I don't recall putting a credit card on file when I registered my ebay buyer account. That may be my probmes right there.....then again maybe I did. I'll check it out when I get home from work.

Wait, unless something's changed recently you don't have separate "seller" and "buyer" accounts - just one account that you can both buy and sell from.

I signed up for eBay back when no CC was needed, but I helped my Mom create an eBay account (with a credit card) not too long ago and I believe she can sell without any further "paperwork".

We have a lot of stuff from my grandma's house to sell (she died recently) and I talked my Mom through the selling process over the phone while she was online - I even had her on the "list your item" page. Hmmmmmm... I *know* she didn't sign up for anything additional - that would have required a phone call to me for sure - but I'm at a loss for what to do now.

I'll second what Casey1505 said. I had the same problem with the CTA site. Turns out my bank had one digit of my zip code wrong in their info. I would get the same error you're getting. Call your bank and make sure that the problem isn't with your address.

Found the problem and have now created my buyers account .

Turns out the problem was that I was putting in my home address, when me and my mom registered the card with our PO box address.

Anyways, thanks for all the help. In return, here's a list of games that ring up as $5 at Circuit City, put together by the message board members at cheapassgamer.com. Many of these games are marked as $20, or even high as $50, but they ring up as $5 at the registers, and many of them sell for more than $5 on ebay. I was able to nabb Parappa the Rapper 2, Dino Stalker, and Disaster Report. Once I got my paycheck, all of these games were sold out, so wether or not you can find these games depends on your Circuit City. Anywho, happy hunting:

I posted this once, but I think Cappy deleted it. Not sure why, but other members asked me to post it again so here it is:

This list is a combination of all the different deals the members of www.cheapassgamer.com have found at Circuit City, all across the country. Cheapassgamer is a site dedicated to a bunch of nerds that search for cheap games wherever they may be....and store like Best Buy and Circuit City often have them. So the members arrive there, and take stacks of games to the registers to see how much they really cost and put their finds of $5 games into this list. In a sense, it's an unanounced sale. Pretty much the only people that know these games are $5 are the people that have seen the list or have heard from someone else about them. How long it lasts is hard to say.

I've looked at some of these games on ebay to see if I could sell them for a profit. Couldn't look through all of them since there's just too many games on the list and I didn't have the time. Games with the word buy next to them means you can resell these games for $10 and double your money. Games with BUY next to them can seel for $20 or even higher.

I've used this list and bought Disaster Report, Dino Stalker, and Parappa the Rapper 2 for $5, so I know that the list is valid. I plan on selling these games on ebay. Elf also bought some games and can vouche for it.

It should be mentioned, that not all of these will ring up as $5 in every store, but enough of these will in probably any store you go to that it's still printing out and taking with you to your local Circuit City.

Anyways, without further ado, The List:
