When I think about : Who is my most favorite band?...I would have to say...Van Halen. I have enjoyed more of "Van Halen's" songs over the years than any other band. Now that I have mentioned my "MOST favorite band," what is yours?

You couldn't PAY me enough to answer this question on a public message board.

Fetish fine, FRPG no sweat, but not my all time favorite band. ::shakes head:: nope.

It's this obscure progressive rock trio from Toronto, Canada. You probably wouldn't know them.

The Kelly Family

[whining] Sometimes... I wish I was an Angel....

My god, what a travesty of music. 17 German Crusties all being driven about by their Dad, singing songs to make impressionable [read: Stupid] teenage Girls Cry and Hold Candles at their live shows.

Kelly Family.... dont let me find you. You're all going down.....

The Bonzo Dog Band (aka, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band).

The most amazing band ever -- think Monty Python as musicians. Good musicians. Their instrumentals could make you laugh out loud. You can find out all about them at the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band page.

(BTW, many of Monty Python's songs were written by Neil Innes of the Bonzos after the group broke up).

It's a simple question...

Gotta be Cowboy Mouth from NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA! (Are you WITH ME?!?!?!)

There's a reason we mouth fans are called "The Hardest Working Audience In Show Business"! I've seen a ba-zillion bands lives and they bring it out every time.

Coldfire! I've been a Rushfan(tm) for almost 20 years now (I first saw them on the GUP tour). Be careful how you bring them up. I might just have to whip you with my 100+ live tape collection with shows that date from FBN to CP.

Are you WITH me?!?!?!?

Grace Under Pressure. Fly By Night. Counterparts. I'm SO with you, brother! Can I get an Amen?

(As for the "unknown prog-rock trio"-angle: I was joking )

Depends on what mood I'm in.

Tom Waits
The Damned
Yeah Yeah Noh
Railroad Jerk
Spaceman 3
Mr. Quintron

...and more I'm not in the mood to mention.

What I prefer to have in my car cd player:

The Pogues
The Replacements
James McMurtry

What usually winds up there:

Raffi
Sesame Street

The scary part is that oftentimes I leave those in even when I am alone in the car.

This 3 man outfit from Boston called Guster. http://www.guster.com . They're fun.
The Pixies.
When I'm depressed, Everclear. And I don't care if they DID do a Gap commercial.
There's a lot of other bands that I enjoy, but those are the ones I love. (ps: Guess who's getting free Chili Pepper tickets? ME! Lalalalalaaa!!!)

Actually, yeah! When I was living in Raleigh, NC, I saw them at G105's Big Shindig in '97. G105 had been playing a couple of their songs for about a month before the show and I liked them, but when I saw them live, it blew me away! Great live band!

As for my favorite. I have two (depending on my mood):

Ben Folds Five
The Tragically Hip (best live band--EVER)

HomeSlice tells me,

Alackaday! Forsooth, 'tis I who am too old!

Actually, maybe not. It's more likely that I'm just pretentious enough to pride myself in an esoteric musical taste, including some stuff that I'm too young for.

Tom Waits: Still cranking out music ahead of his time.
The Damned: The best first-wave punk rock band.
Yeah Yeah Noh: Obscure (in the US) early 80s new wave.
Railroad Jerk: Late 90s rock 'n' roll.
Spaceman 3: Late 80s drone-fuzz.
Mr. Quintron: Way cool New Orleans rock 'n' roll organist.

And did I mention the Stooges? The godfathers of punk rock?

Definitely the Eagles . Don Henley is on my laminated list. The rest are really fine musicians, though whoever told Joe Walsh he could sing should be taken out and scourged. They sound as good live as they do in the studio. And did I tell you that Don Henley makes me swoon?

Journey ,for supplying me with background music for my jr. high and high school make-out sessions. (I know, I know, I'm aging myself here.)

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for putting 100% into every show. The Beatles are awesome. The Police ere good, too.
