Artists -- art lovers -- MADS -- eccentrics of all stripes...

Once again, FairyChatMom and I are going to try to organize a trip to Baltimore’s Visionary Art Museum, which currently has an exhibit (exhibits?) about water.

The idea is to get a bunch of Dopers and their non-Doper SO’s and friends together to check out the museum, and then probably have a meal or something. Anyone would be welcome to join in for the museum, or the meal, or both. For the sake of starting to figure out a date, let me throw out February 12th or 19th, both of which are Saturdays, which both FCM and I somewhat prefer over Sundays – but the dates, and days, are open.

Who’s interested?

Wait… what… February?? Isn’t it cold in February!!!
<snerk>

Unfortunately, unlike the last time we tried to plan this, our boat is not in Baltimore Harbor, so there won’t be any boat ride. But I will be there, and my sweetie most likely will be, also. And if we get at least 10 folks to commit, we can get the group rate, which is only $6 per.

So, c’mon, MADs! Let’s get some culture!

I’m in. I need to give the baby all the culture he can get. You’ve met his daddy.

Possibly.

It will depend on which date is chosen-one of them is already taken for me. I’ll stay tuned.

Aw, c’mon, Ginger, it’s not like he had your wedding portrait custom painted on red velvet, now.
Or did he??

Also - my sweetie confirmed that he’ll come along.

Well, cast your ballot for your preferred date then - twicks and I thought throwing the two out there would prod someone to narrow it down. Take a stand! Be a leader! Pick a date!

This coming from a Canadian. Up there “culture” is what they grow the curds for poutine in.

You’ll note Dave doesn’t actually deny the red-velvet-wedding-portrait rumor, however.

The 19th is spoken for on my end. Now we’ve got that settled.

Okay, cool!

Saturday the 12th – how’s that sound to people?

Nah, the 12th is no good for me–it’s my sister’s birthday. Ah well, maybe the next outing.

Unfortunately, while I can use all the culture I can get my grubby mitts on, I’m gonna be a hermit at least until May.

Robin

I could probably do the 12th, even though I was at the AVAM only a few months ago.

I think I can do either day. I’m currently scheduled to be in/near Baltimore on the 19th, but I can ask that it be moved to the 12th if needed. So, whatever the consensus is, I’ll do my best to be there.

The 12th is peachy keen for me, too! May I suggest that we meet 1-ish, then afterwards those who wish can dine out? That also makes it a bit easier for those of us who have longer drives. Although if the majority wants to meet earlier, I’ll drag my sorry self out of bed in time to meet earlier. That’s how much I care!

So, body count for the 12th, 1-ish? Remember, the magic numer is 10! At least, the cheap number is 10. We’ll be there regardless…

Current count – I think –

FairyChatMom and the possibly imaginary FairyChatDad
twicks (who may drag along a friend)
danceswithcats
GingerOfTheNorth
(sans weirddave?
av8rmike
BlueKangaroo

which by my count is 7, maybe 8 people.

Does anyone have AnitaVacation’s email address? When I saw her in Gettysburg last summer she mentioned being interested in this, and I think she hangs out mostly at LJ these days.

I’ll make a LJ post.

No, really, it’s no problem!

The LJ post did the trick. I am indeed interested in this event and am free on the 12th.

I can offer DC Dopers rides on the Bozo Bus[sup]TM[/sup] from a Metro station - Springfield preferred.

Yay! Glad you’re coming, Anita!
