What? Yet another Doper picture thread? (Then & Now)

Sure! Only, in this one, post a then and now: A picture from your younger days, and one of you currently.

How far back? As young as you like. How current? Within the last year or two.

So:

Then:
Here I am in my 30s, during a visit to a friend living in Paris, in a photo taken for a carte d'orange -- a public transportation pass.

Now:
Taken last summer, with my Thoroughbred Ben, before our first class at a dressage show.

I should note that the first picture was June of 2000, the next was June of 2001, and the last was, oh, a month ago?

This is me at 17. It's not very old, but it's the oldest picture I had online. I had to link to the whole page, because Tripod hates when I don't.

And me earlier today. I'm 25.

Trivia: I'm wearing the same sparkly dress in both photos. I love that dress.

I just need to add that I haven't given up on dyeing my hair - it's actually streaked blue in that pic, but it's faded so much. You can still see hints of it, though!

I do believe I may have the "What? That's YOU?" award in the bag.

Here's me yesterday...

...and here's me in 2nd grade.

That was 1992. That picture alone tells you everything you need to know about how popular I was in elementary school and, indeed, beyond.

This is me during Christmas freshman year of high school

Colorado, high temps were in the teens, and I was used to lows of the 40's... I was rocking four layers, nice and cozy infront of the fire!

This is me as of a week ago, after my hair cut

Imagine me with a little more messed up hair, and thats how i normally look.

Here is a before and after that is much more recent, and one that I'm rather proud of.

The first pic of me was taken May 10th of this year, following my graduation from Purdue's branch campus in Indianapolis. It is also a month before I had my gastric bypass. Before

The second is me about 3 weeks ago, screwing around with my USB webcam. It's about 14 weeks after my bypass, and it's quite evident that I've lost 60+ lbs. After

Today, I had an official weigh-in at the surgeon's office, and I'm -70 lbs.

I don't have anything real old online, but here is me in Jan 2003

and me again in Dec 2004

I'm the tall one in the second photo

Some people say I look like I lost weight, but I don't see it.

In truth I lost about 175lbs between the photos, maybe a little more. I had been down 215lbs at one point (started at 425)

Here's another pair for you:

My college yearbook photo. Hair down to my waist.

A couple of years ago, at an office party. I'd been photographing everyone else and then it was "It's your turn! Up against the wall!" No, those little brown things on my head are not antennas, they're hair clips.

This is me at Sun River, Oregon for a work conference a couple weeks ago. Same one I posted in the other thread, but this time on a server that wouldn't run out of bandwidth in thre minuites flat.

I'll play, too, since I raided the photo albums and scanned all manner of things just for this purpose.

Strawberry blonde babe (about a year old)

At twelve (note my t-shirt)

Senior picture (I was sixteen, since we took our senior pictures in the summer)

Standard picture now, at twenty-seven

Bless your heart. (And no, I'm not a Southerner, so I mean that the nice way.) And you have a lovely smile and a melodious username. What is its origin?

Your saying that almost makes up for the meetup.com event I got lost trying to get to tonight. 38 years old and I'm driving around like a madman looking for a karaoke bar. And me a profesisonal musician. Dear Og, I need a life.

Heh. I am Southern (though there are those that will argue about that), so I know just what you mean. Thank you, though. "Harimad-sol" is one of the names of the protagonist of one of my favorite books, The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley. I mainly chose it because "Harry Crewe" would have made people think that I was a guy, and "Angharad" was a bit too much altogether.

Glad to be of some service. I wouldn't think professional musicians get to karaoke bars that often. Did you make it, or give up? Lives, I find, are overrated, but if you find one, will you share a little with me? I'm probably about due for one. (would you like to natter with me by e-mail? seems a good opportunity, since I couldn't find a reason just to e-mail you randomly)

Smooth as ever, that's me.

I don't have any kid pics scanned in right now -- but there's a good one I need to scan from about age 10. Anyways:

This one is age 19 or 20, I believe

More recent (within the last year)

I don't have any from when I was *really* young online, but here's a few...

In this one, I'm about 19. Yes I'm in a cemetary; the name on the stone is actually Whorf, purposely partially obscured by my skirt 'cause I thought it was funny.

Here, I'm about 23. I played guitar for about 12 years, till I started working a second job and ran out of free time. Frankly, I'm a better writer than player, so it wasn't really going anywhere anyway.

My favorite photo of myself is from the 1998 NHL Awards; the disembodied arm next to me belongs to Sergei Samsonov. People who see the full photo and don't know who he is often see me in an off-white dress next to a guy in a tuxedo and say, "Oh, you were married?" Either that or that I look like Carrie Fisher, which I honestly don't see.

Most recent is this one from a Pow Wow that I went to last year - I'm the one on the far left. I've lost about 10 lbs since then and look a lot more like the third photo, except my hair is longer now.
