It's raining!
Hello from rain soaked New Jersey. I've got two inches in my basement and I'm in one of the drier areas. One of the local towns within walking distance of me had six inches in twenty four hours last week!
 We were in a drought but this not how I think everyone wanted it to end.

We've been getting lots of rain here in Maryland, too, after a very dry summer and a September of no rain at all.
We had a huge soaking Saturday as the remnants of some tropical storm came through - eight to ten inches across the area. It was pouring outside, and... it was raining in my attic. It's not supposed to rain inside the attic! Long story short, we're getting a new roof. Thank God for a handy husband, his handy friends and a Home Depot credit card.

I feel your pain. I'm in NJ too.
I spent a marvelous half-hour with a cup of coffee and an umbrella, watching cars go through a huge street puddle. The waves they made were suitable for surfing.

Another Jersian checking in, as Day 4 of Ark Building Weather flows along...
The odd thing is how perfectly segmented along Route 9 this storm seems to be. At home (near the shore), it's been torrential rain for days now, but soon as I cross 9 on my way to work, it's been drizzle all week.

I'm also from NJ. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to work this morning because of an accident. Why do SUV drivers think they are invincible in the rain?

I unfortunately have to take something called River Road to work. Guess what's happening there?
 I love the rain. I do. I love it for a day, maybe even two days. But every pair of pants I own is rain-stained to the knees this week, and the parking lot at my office is two inches deep in water. Because I have to walk a hundred yards outside to the laundry room, I've been procrastinating all week, and am definitely on my last pair of underwear. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, though!

My Sister got caught in a flash flood in Eatontown on Tuesday evening.
I have so far vacuumed up close to 200 gallons out of my basement. That was as of 7am this morning. I don't what to expect when I get home tonight.

Can you divert the flood out to Lake Mead for us Las Vegans who are still living with the drought?
Sorry your rain seems to be unending and causing so much damage...I was born in Illinois in a town where the Illinois river flooded on a regular basis...I know what a pain and how dangerous and destructive it can be. Hold tight...I hear FEMA is building you guys an ark.

So apparently I got off easy. I have stopped taking on water and am now drying out. I had about 230 gallons.
My sister had her car washed out Tuesday night and now has her Ducts filling quicker than they can water vacc them out. My BIL had to run out and get a good Sump Pump. My other sister is get flooding straight up out of the floor. My BIL has been none stop with 3 water vaccs just to keep up. Sounds like he must be closing in on 1000 gallons.

The oddest thing today -- there is a large, glowing thing in the skies over central New Jersey. Things are becoming less wet. What is that term? "Dry?" Yeah, I think that's it. And that bright sky thing -- I think I've seen it before, a long time ago. I think the name for it begins with an 's.'
