Tom Cruise Fires His Sister

It has not gone unnoticed that Tom Cruise suddenly started presenting his inner wack job right around the time he fired his long-time publicist and hired his sister to be his PR person. Well, now she's gone: IMDb link (time-sensitive).

So -- do we have a return to sanity in the offing? or at least a return to an appearance of sanity?

And -- whose idea was this?

Wrong! It's the little angel of L. Ron sitting on Tom's shoulder who gives him his commands.

That would seem to imply that Cruise was sane in the first place. I am not willing to conceed that.

No, it would imply that his former manager was better able to maintain the façade.

Good point.

He did, however, present himself as a "nice guy" leading man type for, what, 20 years or so? First sign of crackage was his divorce from Nicole -- and then his antics over the last year and a half or so has left all celeb watchers saying "whoa..."

Can his reputation be saved? Or is he permanently in the "nuts" category now, as far as the "ET"-watcher on the street is concerned? How will this affect his ability to get those huge-paying roles? When was his last hit?

More likely, it's the damage control team within the "church".

Hasn't anyone thought that it isn't Tom but rather Katie?

He was cool till she came along.

When you see a guy, reach for stars in the sky, you can bet that he's doing it for some doll.

His sister is 'being promoted' to overseeing his charity work.

Next, she will head FEMA.

Maybe his sister wasn't letting him promote Scientology as much as he wanted to.

This seems likely. When he was with Pat Kingsley his reputation was quite stable, and he came off as rather likable, friendly, and most importantly, sane. She sounds like a damn good publicist (as long as you're a client).

If so, we're in for something much more entertaining than a typical Tom Cruise movie.

Did anybody else get a good chuckle from the story at the bottom of that IMDb news page?

I don't want to insult anyone here, I'm just asking you to think over recent events, that's all.

If you do, you will realize-- -- that all this came about because SHE didn't know the history of psychiatry, and HE did.

Case closed!

I knew that the boy was as mad as a hatter when he left Mimi Rogers. After that, all of this is a step UP.

You know, I just can't shake the annoying feeling that Cruise is planning some kind of "messiah" schtick with Katie and the kid she's carrying.

I consider anyone having any connection with scientology or L. Ron Hubbard as wacko. His actions just confirmed my opinion.

IIRC, Kingsley's nickname is "Komodo Dragon". She's known to be a total bully when it comes to her clients image.

I find it amusing that in less than a year, Tom Cruise has gone from a major movie star and heartthrob to a cult-obsessed nutjob and the laughingstock of Hollywood. Whatever he was paying Kingsley to hide the crazy, it wasn't enough.

Hiring a new publicist at this point though, is like close the barn door after the horses.

Reminds me of an episode of "The Simpsons:"

Bart: Lisa made me do it. She cast a witch's spell on me.
Lisa: It's spelled Wicca, and it's empowering.
Bart: Wicca is just a Hollywood fad.
Lisa: That's Kabbala, jerk.
