Who was this Star Trek (TOS) babe?

In the episode “Assignment: Earth,” who is the “Cat Lady” who is seen at the end of the show?

IMDB lists Barbara Babcock as the credits for the voice of the cat (which to me, actually sounded like Teri Garr), but doesn’t specifically say who the chick was. It might be Barbara Babcock, but she’s wearing a wig and a lot of make-up. And I’m not familiar enough with the actress to “see thru” it.

Any ideas???

My understanding has always been that it was, indeed, Teri Garr.

I is indeed Terri Garr, and if I remember correctly, the episode was the basis of a series that Roddenberry was trying to pitch.

Well, he was trying to sell that episode’s concept as a series of its own. But that’s another story.

Teri Garr’s character (Roberta Lincoln) is not the “Cat Lady” to whom the OP refers. Mjollnir (I believe) refers to Isis, Gary Seven’s cat. He converses with the cat throughout the epsiode. However, at the very end, one of the other characters looks over at the couch on which the cat was sitting and instead sees a woman. Said character looks away, looks back, and this woman is once again the cat.

To be honest, I have no idea who played this woman. It very well could have been Teri Garr in a wig. (Would have been easier than finding an actress for a split-second cameo.) Though I think it would be funny if it was Lee Meriwether (sp?) or Julie Newmarr(sp?). (I think we can tell it wasn’t Eartha (sp?) Kitt.) Hey…that show was big at the time!

I don’t recognize the actress. I seem to recall that it’s NOT Barbara Babcock [who was in two other Classic Trek Episodes, “A Taste Of Armageddon” (sp?) and “Plato’s Stepchildren”.]

Incidentally, (Torberg may know this), Lee Meriweather (“That Which Survives”) and Julie Newmar (“Friday’s Child”) both guested on Star Trek. (I’m also fairly certain that neither of them is the cat lady actress, either.)

Teri Garr played the ditzy secretary of Gary Seven–a totally different character from the Cat Lady actress. (I don’t believe the lady in question looked like her, either–and besides, viewers would have almost certainly picked up on the resemblence.)

Personal opinion–that episode sucked eggs.

This is an old thread, but I’m blowing the tanks on it because I did find a source (from "another board):

According to “The Star Trek Compendium” (Alan Asherman 1981), Barbara Babcock, with wig, played the role.

We can all rest easier, now.

(And I’m still convinced that Teri Garr supplied the “meows.”)

Not to argue with the book, but I too have heard that it was Terri Garr in a wig, with Barbara Babcock (was she a contract player at Paramount or something??) supplying the meows.
