Want to know your Elvish Name? Post it here!

**Disclaimer** I do not believe there is a way to reverse the name generator to find out real names... if you are still twitchy about this, just use your SDMB handle in place of your real name.

I stumbled on the Elvish Name Generator the other day and I loved it. Post your findings here... I bet there will be some username requests coming from this in the near future.

My elvish name is Dínendal Tinehtelë.

P.S. Feel free to post your Hobbit name as well, mine is Hambut Danderfluff

Elven Real Name:
Elladan Telrúnya

Elven sduserid:
Nolofinwë Vardamir

Hobbit Real Name:
Fredegar Gamgee-Took of Bywater

Hobbit sduserid:
Falco Moss of Lake-by-Downs

SPOILER:

I wonder if there is any rhyme or reason. I bet it's a random paring. Retrying Elven real name, I do get Elladan Telrúnya, so maybe there's a method here.

Elanor the Fair was Samwise's eldest daughter. She married Fastred of Greenholm in 30FA.
Fastred was made Warden of Westmarch in 34, and he and Elanor made their home at Undertowers on the Tower Hills in the Westmarch. Elanor and Fastred's descendants came to be known as the Fairbairns of the Towers. Their son Elfstan Fairbairn was born in 33. They also had a daughter named Firiel.
Garion is Elfstan's son. So perhaps you are Elanor Faibairn's Grandaughter and married a descendant of Pippin. Elanor the Fair was the first Elanor in the Shire and it was Frodo who suggested that she be named after the golden flower elanor found in Lothlorien, thus following the Hobbit custom of naming girls after flowers while selecting a unique name that suited the beautiful, golden-haired child. In later years she came to be called Elanor the Fair. In appearance, some said she was more like an Elf-maid than a Hobbit.

My educated Guess: I am a Programmer and Tolkien fanatic.

It has a large database of names. Flowery names for female Hobbits, Hobbit like names for males. A large index of Last names and locations for both.
The Elvish uses a list of Elvish male and female names from the books and then an Elvish word generator to build a list of last names.
In all cases the programmer has built a routine that uses a value based on your name to index these 6 databases.

If anyone wants more detail on their name I'll will try to provide it, let me know.

Jim

But a good orc is a dead and bloated orc, or dead and burnt, or dead and buried.
I think there is a pattern here.
I got it.
A Good Orc is a dead Orc.

Somewhere on the site it explains the program (I found it a long time ago and am explaining this from memory, so no link):

There are three lists of names, taken from Tolkein's indexes: female first names, male first names, and last names. The program takes the first and last letters of each name given and matches it to a name on the list. John Smith matches to whatever name is next to JN on the male name list and SH on the last name list. So Kythereia and Dolores Reborn don't necessarily have the same last name, but the first and last letters of their last names are the same. One is Parker and the other is Potter, or something.

The below are real name then board name of elf then hobbit then orc

Merenwen Eluch/div>
Nindë Calmcacil

Ruby Chubb of Deephollow
Flora Danderfluff of Willowbottom

Shapogataar, the marauder - Uruk of Mordor
Shaporrûrz, the crude - Uruk of Mordor

I have no idea why the real name/elf name mucked up. Division error?

I'm not sure I like that Chubb thing. Sounds like a pudgy fish. And calmacil sounds lik an emotial laxative.
