Updike is banned for his behavior in the threads Imus Show Dissing Jill Carroll: WTF??? and I lied. Specifically, he was banned for lying about his parents being killed on 9/11. Usually a single lie is not enough to get one banned, but this was a heinous falsehood.
There was some discussion among the moderation staff, and the consensus was that Updike needed to go.
