StarGate SG-1 pilot

Full frontal nudity, and not just a quick glimpse or a far backgound shot and definately long moments of bare breasts. How did they get it past the censors (US)? Did it not air on regular TV? Did it only air very late at night? Was the dvd version a special directors cut?

The show was originally made for Showtime, the premium cable channel.

You know, despite her owning seasons every season available on DVD, the girlfriend and I still haven't watched the uncensored pilot.

I guess when they show the reruns on regular TV they skip that episode? Which would explain why I don't remember ever seeing it. Of course, on regular broadcast TV I don't remember any of the first season being shown. It is kinda of hit or miss, which is why I bought the DVD.

Just to add to this, I am pretty sure you'll hear this given as the reason if you listen to the commentary for this episode on the DVD.

... My wife is hogging the TV or I could check

I don't think there was commentary on any of the seasons until season 4 or so. Though I do remember one with Christopher Judge where they were talking about the actual physical Goa'uld larva used in the pilot and maybe the first couple of early seasons (they've gone to digital now) and Judge said something along the lines of "bring back the naked women."

I've seen the pilot episode on the Sci-Fi Channel. Nudity and all Perhaps they have a censored version now, but they have played the uncensored version in the past.

This is Stargate SG-1, with McGyver we're talking about? I guess showing it at 4.30 pm on a Sunday evening in the UK (or whenever else it pleased Channel 4 to grace us with a viewing ) must have made it harder to get past UK censors

I wouldn't have beleived it without seeing the Amazon review;

Quote:
It's a pretty standard adventure, with brief, gratuitous R-rated nudity not seen in the original cablecast
And seeing the R-rating on the packaging.

Of course, it couldn't have been Amanda Tapping.

Well she was a pretty lady anyway, well endowed too. Pretty much surprised me to be seeing her in the all together. Why is it never the guys. Well ok they showed Dennis Franz butt and that skinny redheaded guys butt on NYPD Blues but damn I would much rather see Jack, Teal'c or Daniel nekkid anyday.

The pilot is the only episode of Season 1 I've seen. I forgot about the nudity completely, but it was ... years ago.
