Will & Grace? More like Shrill & Graceless

I know many of you don't like this show and are pointing and laughing at me right now, but for the handful who have stuck by it all the way up to this, it's not so grand finale, have you noticed the characters getting uglier and uglier, both physically and peronality wise? Is it my imagination, or are none of the the four principles aging very well?

Is there a completely different set of writers? I used to love watching all the characters and found them likable despite their quirks, but now they just seem bitter. Not only does their dialogue sound snarky, but I get a sense of snark from the actors themselves. I also think pregnancy did not agree with Deborah Messing. What the heck happened to her?

Anyone else notice a change in the last couple of season?

I agree, I think they all are acting sillier and even more unrealistic as the show winds down. And Grace's meltdown last night was the capper. Will should have told her to kiss off, he's not her husband or the father of her kid and she should be freakin' grateful as heck he's going to as much trouble as he is on her behalf, as he always has throughout their one-sided relationship. Thinking of pitting her now.

Oh yeah, and Megan Mullally is starting to show her age (going to be 48 this year, at least!), but she still looks pretty hawt IMHO.

Sorry for quick double post.

I don't watch, so I can't comment on all of your post, but I used to tune in the first few minutes just to see Debra Messing, who I always thought was stunning. But I agree that she seems to be less attractive lately.

This happens to all sitcoms over time. The nature of sitcom is chracter acting or overeacting to comic situations. Figuring 20+ episode a season for 6 or 7 seasons... that's over one hundred wacky situations.. In real life most people maybe have 4 maybe 6 tops 'wacky antics ensuing' situations. Eventually they have to keep topping what they did in both content AND characterization making it more and more ridiculous and less relatable to.

Oh Megan Mullaly is so freaking hot.... Debra Messing was cute back on Ned and Stacey..not so much on Will and Grace.

I have seen parts of maybe two or three episodes I think. Is it the show with the harpy with the shrill voice and the stereotypical gay guy, neither of whom is Will or Grace, in exactly the same manner that no-one else seems to be Will or Grace?

That's the one!

And I agree with you, Push You Down , hilarity can only ensue for so long. It used to be, for me though, that I liked watching these actors in these rolls even when they weren't cracking wise or being nutty. I thought DM was amazing to look at, and now I find her down right unattractive, unlike MM, who, though she's gained some weight is still a hot tamale. None have any chemistry with the others.

I used to like the show a lot, but it seems like it's gotten a lot worse with their attempts to make the show sort of serious. Ever since, say, Harry Connick Jr.'s stint on the show, it's just gotten much less funny, and it doesn't have the right setup to be a drama.

Any thoughts on a Karen or Jack spinoff?
