NBC to revive Will & Grace

For some reason NBC is revving Will & Grace for a 10 episode season.

It’s 13 years later, the actors are over 50, and can’t play characters much younger, and the idea of a single middle-aged woman still living with her single middle-aged male gay best friend seems incredibly sad.

While NBC is at it, could they tell us whether Ross and Rachel were finally able to stay together?

It seemed to me that Eric McCormack was really trying hard to escape from under the burden of playing that character for so long. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was the hold out, if there was anyone.

You know, these days, when Hollywood “revives” something, all I can think of is Jeffery Combs injecting glowing green ooze into the arm of a flyblown carcass…

Anyway, I wasn’t really a big watcher of the show, but IIRC, didn’t the series finale, showing a flash forward some decades into the future, kind of preclude an immediate “sequel” series?

Although if you fudge the dates by a few years, you could certainly do a “Will and Grace: The Next Generation” with no trouble at all.

The resounding success of their — rather frail — ensemble piece dedicated to electing Hillary Clinton must have shown the potential for a comeback for their unique appeal.
These things always end in triumph. See: The Entertainer, and The Sunshine Boys.

It would be a relationship that outlasted most straight marriages I’ve seen.

Has anyone said they’d still be roomates and not just friends getting back together after their respective divorces?

Maybe it’s not meant to be taken seriously, you guys. Maybe you need to put on your camp hats and roll with it.

I could watch a new Mad About You but Will and Grace…mmmm don’t know.

I loved Will & Grace and will definitely give it a look. I liked their Hillary commercial, too. I think that particular foursome has a lot of chemistry.

I wonder if the episodes have already been filmed…thinking about Debbie Reynolds as Grace’s mom…was she in any of them…

Reminds me of the Andy Griffith reunion movie–the same characters living the same lives in essentially the same jobs, but only elderly. The only way to save the reboot is to make it Will & Grace & Mycroft.

Ditto on all points.

This was always one of my favorites and I look forward to it. They definitely made the best use of special guest stars: Michael Douglas, Matt Damon and Kevin Bacon were especially good.

I look forward to seeing it, but I’m not overly optimistic about the results.

Never saw it the first time, other than for about five minutes which convinced me never to turn it on again. Definitely won’t watch it the second time around.

I wonder if Michael Angarano is coming back too. Even if they don’t jump ahead the full 20+ years in the finale Jack could conceivably be a grandfather by now. Karen could be a grandhag by now.

I, for one, have been really enjoying his show Travelers. Travelers (TV Series 2016–2018) - IMDb

Can’t help to sock away a few extra bucks while you still have your looks.

Update: They’ve released a 5 minute promo for the revival.

That promo is AWESOME ! I just hope their writers are as good as they were back in the day. I’ll be watching.

Will & Grace was probably my all time favorite sitcom, and watching that promo had me literally laughing out loud yesterday… not an easy feat, since yesterday was the Day From Hell for me (Totaled my van, my union at work announced we are going on strike Friday, my freezer went out, and I broke out in hives. Yeah.)

I hope it’s as good as it looks to be!

more summertime entertainment?
