For some odd reason, I was listening to songs off Disney movies. Don’t ask me why, because I don’t know. But I realized, my favorite song is “Gaston” off of Beauty and the Beast.
I’m not sure why, but I like it. I think it’s because it’s so ridiculously over the top, you can’t help but love it.
My second favorite is “Never Smile at a Crocodile” off of Peter Pan.
And yes, it’s perfectly ok for 19 year old men in the military to listen to Disney musicl. Or so I tell myself.
It’s either Go The Distance from Hercules or the themesong from Kim Possible.
I Wanna Be Like You from Jungle Book is good stuff, too.
In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room is my favorite.
Pretty much everything from Beauty and the Beast, but my favorite is the opening song, Belle.
My favorites are a couple from Mulan: **Honor to us all ** and I’ll make a man out of you (sung by none other than Donny Osmond)
Poor Unfortunate Souls from Little Mermaid is good, also I Won’t Say I’m in Love from Hercules. I like a lot of Disney songs but I’ll just stick with those two. I may not have the titles right.
Philisophically, it’s Just Around the Riverbend from Pocahontas. In fact, I just got goosebumps reading those lyrics.
But to sing, it’s “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. It’s perfectly in my range - could have been written for my voice, and it sounds great a capella (unlike “Riverbend”, which is beautifully written, but sounds awkward without backup).
Interesting that they’re both “I Want” songs, as Joss Whedon calls them. I guess that motif really calls to me.
There are so many good songs! It’s hard to pick.
I agree that I Wanna Be Like You is right up near the top. If you like that song you should check out Louis Prima and Keely Smith’s mainstream music. It’s got exactly the same fun and energy.
I also have to put in a vote for Walt Disney’s personal favorite, **Feed the Birds ** from Mary Poppins. It’s so simple and so sweet.
It’s not a song, but **The Theme from the Electrical Parade ** is a wonderful piece of counterpoint.
And finally, for pure lyrical virtuousity I have to vote for **Part of Your World ** from The Little Mermaid, that contains the following lines:
What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet’cha on land they understand
That they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women sick of swimmin’
Ready to stand …
There’s a huge amount of complicated internal rhyme in these lines, but it rolls forwards effortlessly. That’s really, really hard to pull off.
Pretty much anything from Beauty and the Beast–“Gaston” is clever and fun, the love song (as sung by Anglea Lansbury) is lovely, I could go on.
And “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid was a huge hit when I was in high school, so I have good memories of that song at dances.
I haven’t paid attention to Disney movies since Aladdin, so I can’t say much for the newer ones.
Without a doubt, Feed the Birds. Great imagery and chord progressions, and a short-but-beautiful message about one’s capacity for love, generosity, and compassion.

For their fully animated films, I gotta go with When You Wish Upon a Star, with honorable mentions to “Little April Shower” (Bambi), “Belle”, and the aforementioned Louis Prima classic.
I like that Kodak theme song from Snow White, “Someday My Prints Will Come”.
Another vote for that baroque hoe-down, the theme from the Main Street Electrical Parade. Great for jogging, by the way.
I’ll Make A Man Out Of You is fantastic. It’s just as good in the Chinese version, sung by Jackie Chan. 
I didn’t even think of I Wanna Be Like You until I opened this thread, but that’s a great one too. In terms of most songs liked per movie, I have to go with all of Aladdin, as there’s not a single song in it that I dislike.
I have to say, though, that my all-time favorite songs come from Oliver & Company. It’s nearly all wonderfully upbeat, and I love good music about New York (for reasons unknown even to me 
).

I love all these songs, but the first one that came to my mind when I opened the thread was… Under the Sea.

We picked up the three CD set of “60 Years of Disney Songs” recently because MilliCal complained that I have nothing to listen to in the car (What? Beethoven Symphonies and Electronic music aren’t good enough?) So I’ve been listening to Disney a lot. So has Pepper Mill, who has started tuning it out. Here’s what I find I listen to:
A Whole New World from Aladdin
Under the Sea, Le Poisson, and Ursula’s song from The Little Mermaid
Provincial Town, Be Our uest and Gaston from Beauty and the Beast
(I’m Lion Kinged-out, because she’s been lisdtening to LK stage and screen tapes for years, so no favorites there)
A hearty second for Main Street Electrical Parade by Jean Jacques Perry and that other guy. I like electronic music… Hard cto believe this one (as “Baroque Hoedown”) dates back to 1967.
I find I really like the Paul Frees-as-Ludwig von Drake songs I’m Professor Ludwig von Drake and The Spectrum Song. Frees’ overdone Viennese accent is irresistable and reminds me of Emil Wolf. I have to find an excuse to play the Spectrum Song at some Spectroscopy Lab event.
Thanks for reminding me why I love that song so much. I love the song “One Jump Ahead” from Aladdin for a similar virtuosity. “Better throw my hand in, wish me happy landin’” is my favorite line. I also thoroughly enjoy “Prince Ali”, but that’s in no small part to Robin William’s voice work.
This was really hard for me, because I can’t remember the last time I saw a Disney film. I’m going to go with Tale as Old as Time sung by Angela Lansbury (AKA, televisions J.B. Fletcher!)
I’ve also always been found of A Spoon Full of Sugar and * Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious* from Marry Poppins. Heh, this has put me into mood to watch it again. I would actually buy the soundtrack for that film-- I don’t think I’d ever listen to it more than once, though.

Love the horns that come in right before the first words.
I really like I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan, as well as Hellfire from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Though, for sheer stick-in-my-head-ness, I can’t beat One Jump Ahead from Aladdin.
No Importa La Distancia (“Go the Distance”) from the Spanish version of Hercules is even more beautiful than the English version. So maybe that.
My favorite to just listen to at work or sing in the car? Grim, Grinning, Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, of course. (And Rand knows this, as I make him listen to my “Diosa’s Super-Awesome Disneyland Mix CD” everytime we go to Disneyland).
