Favorite Disney movie song

For the longest time, One Jump Ahead, I Just Can’t Wait To Be King, I’ll Make A Man Out Of You and Eye To Eye all competed in my mind over which was the greatest Disney song evar.

I remember seeing the Disney version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was six and, while I liked it, it never stood out as one of the Disney greats in my mind. I never watched it again and I just sort of forgot about it. About an hour or so I saw Hellfire and… WOW.

I just had a miniature emotional response to this song. It’s so fucking dark. So uh, I’ll give it a while, but it might be knocking Eye To Eye off my list.

What Disney songs are the best in your mind?

If you can blow my mind with a song I’d forgotten about like, like Hellfire, there might even be an e-cookie in it for you.

I Wanna Be Like You followed closely by I’ll Make A Man Out Of You

Stand Out
Part of Your World

Marry Poppins, Feed the Birds.

Toy Story’s I Will Go Sailing No More

Toy Story 2’s When She Loved Me

Pete’s Dragon, It’s Not Easy, There’s Room for Everyone, and Happy Family

Bedknobs and Broomstick’s Portabello Road

Circle of Life

Hellfire may be second.

Edit to add: Does animation count? Because the animation of the first is what really solidifies it as my choice.

Notorious even though it never actually made it into the movie; Eartha Kitt’s “Snuff out the light”. One of the best villain songs, ever.

I Wanna Be Like You. Followed by Bear Necessities.

Perfect Isn’t Easy From Oliver and Company (a great drag queen song)

Best Villain songs

Gaston

Ursula

And this song is great the Mob Song from Beauty and the Beast

My personal fav is probably I Wanna Be Like You.

I also like most of the Aladdin music.

Really? I… uh… heh, not to diss the late Eartha Kitt… but I disliked it quite a bit.

Oh, got this is going to be hard (Especially as I have 3-4 Disney Compilations currently on my iPod) but here goes

The Lion King’s Original Opening of the Circle Of Life has to be one of my Favourites along with Hakuna Matata and Can you Feel the Love tonight. I loved the music from that movie, so much so that I wore out 3 to 4 Cassette Tapes before getting the CD and Making MP3’s

After that its a mixture Ranging from Hercules - I can Go the distance to Pocahontas - Colours of the Wind.

Honourable mentions Go to Beauty and the Beast from the movie of the same name, A Whole New World From Aladdin, Spoonful of Sugar from Mary Poppins, The Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book, You’ve Got a Friend in Me From Toy Story, He’s A Tramp From Lady and The Tramp, When I See and Elephant Fly and Baby Mine from Dumbo, He Lives in you from The Lion King 2 andI Believe I can Fly from Space Jam.

Yeah, snipped. I love all the other ones you mentioned, but this one always bugged me. I like the music, but I could never understand the main lines:
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?

I can only make sense out of them if I reverse them, as mountains have color and the wind has a sound/voice. It seems like profundity without meaning.

Oh, and I still remember every word from every song in The Lion King, so you aren’t alone. I actually wound up getting music for them. Plus I sang a medley of them in high school show choir.

No matter what you think of the movie, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dashould be up there. No Disney song is more fun to sing.
[This](firebird suite fantasia 2000), however, despite not actually being a song, is the best musical sequence Disney ever made.

Mary Poppins Disney?

*Chim Chiminy *has such a sad vibe, I love it.
*Step in Time *rocks and I got the whole soundtrack on my i-pod.

Word.

Definitely “I’ll Make a Man out of You” from Mulan. I love a lot of Disney songs, but there isn’t even a close second to this one.

Feed the Birds
Pink Elephants on Parade
Blue Shadows on the Trail
I Wanna Be Like You!

*Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil
If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will
To see her is to take a sudden chill
That’s Cruella, Cruella De Vil. *

We listened to a lot of Disney songs when MilliCal was little (long car trips). Although I grew up on a lot of the older ones, I have to admit I like the newer ones quite a bit:

Part of your World , Under the Sea, and Le Poisson from The Little Mermaid

Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast
I Can Show you the World from Aladdin
Mary Poppins had Chim Chimminee, Feed the Birds, and A Spoonful of Sugar
And I agree about the rather obscure Portobello Road from Bedknobs and Broomsticks (a movie that would have been much better with a ruthless editor), although I prefer the version on the Disney CD to the version they used in the movie.
I have to admit that I’ve grown less fond of the older songs, but I still love When you Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio, which has rightly become the Disney standard. And Little April Shower is a haunting little song from Bambi.
I did love The Bare Necessities when I was a kid.

A lot of the Disney music I love is orchestral, so not really a “song”, or from venues other than movies. I have to admit that I really like Baroque Hoedown (and its variations) by Perrey and Kingsley, the theme music for the Main Street Electrical Parade (and which Mike Jittlov used as the music for his animated short Mouse Mania for Disney).

Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid
Just Around the Riverbend from Pocahontas
He’s a Tramp and The Siamese Cat Song from Lady and the Tramp

But most of all, I Won’t Say I’m in Love from Hercules.

Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid is up there.

Although I have sent my son into fits of hysterical giggling by singing Les Poissons as I was cooking.

Regards,
Shodan

Isn’t that from The Three Amigos? Is that even a Disney film?
