How not to rob a liquor store

I almost feel sorry for him. Almost.

I love at the end when you can almost see him thinking "screw it" and sitting down having a smoke.

More proof that crime doesn't pay. At least if you're a doofus.

As soon as I saw him fall through the ceiling getting in, I thought, "Man, is it going to be fun watching him get out."

I can't decide which is my favorite bit: the doomed jump from the top of the ladder, or when he misses trying to break the camera.

I love that it doesn't occur to him to try and smash the camera until he's spent a good amount of time in the store.

Here's a hint, dude -- smashing the camera doesn't make the tape go away.

I just noticed that at the end he's not wearing his shorts anymore, he's just in bright orange boxers. I wonder what happened there? As if he wasn't already going to be enough of a laughingstock in jail.

That guy seemed almost invincible. How did he do all that stuff without knocking himself out or getting so hurt that he couldn't move? It seems to me that just one of those antics would incapacitate most people.

Here's a version with sound, which makes it even more fun. Gotta love the "Bob Saget!" touch.

That's what I was thinking, but since I've never taken drugs, I can't tell if his behavior is consistent. It sure seemed odd for him to go through so much trouble for so little reward, even if he was successful.

Looks fake to me.
His first fall from the outside wall looks more like a jump than a slip.
Ceiling panels are generally 2 X 4, or so, you simply do not need to knock down four panels in the same spot, only to have three other panels fall in separate spots if you're coming through the roof.
According to the video, the store had five separate cameras (rather than a couple of cameras panning back and forth). That seems a bit much for the stores I enter.
When he "falls" after climbing the ladder, his head is toward the ladder that has just slipped away from his feet.
The action takes place in daylight: how many liquor/party stores are closed during daylight hours? (Assuming a Sunday, why is there someone opening the door at the end (and why would the perp think that his "laying out" routine would be invisible to the door opener)?
When he tries to ram the dolly through the door, it does not look to me as though he is really using much strength (especially for a guy who is strong enough to haul his bulk onto the roof).

I could be mistaken and it happened just as portrayed, but I am suspicious.

I've seen this floating around for a bit now, and it still cracks me up. Keystone Krooks. The version with sound is fake though -- the sound is, anyway. The "Bob Saget!" is taken from some other clip of a guy with Tourettes or somesuch, and the rest of the audio is pretty obviously out of sync or doesn't quite match the action in many places. (Plus, how many security systems record audio inside and out if at all?)

That was my other thought. If it wasn't drugs that created his invincible nature, then it must be faked. That's just too many mishaps for one person in such a condensed period of time, even if he was on drugs. As you say, though, this doesn't rule out the possibility that it's real, but I'm also dubious.

I took the lying down to be him giving up and it was the police at the door. When you watch the video with sound the alarm does go off.

As for the dolly, after falling that many times I don't think that I would be working at 100%.

When he first falls through the ceiling, he nearly lands on his head. I don't think someone would do that for a pretend robbery tape. I think it's real.

Yeah, both falls straight onto the masses of glass bottles convinced me. Way too dangerous just for a "lark" (and those falls are real doozies, too).

But by the same token, wouldn't he be bleeding and severely hampered in his movements after falling onto a shelf of bottles? Plus, it looked to me (only viewed it once; correct me if I'm wrong) that they showed the same fall twice, just for emphasis.

The sound on the video is fake... It's been added later.

First off.... How many security cameras have you seen that have sound? Let alone the good pickups that these seem to have.

The "glass breaking" sound starts before anything hits any bottles. (May just be an a sound -sync issue.)

The sound of the insulation dropping is one thing. It's too solid. That stuff is somewhat soft... And it's pretty much the same sound every time a piece falls... No matter what angle it lands on.

The noise from the alarm never changes, even during cuts. And even with this loud-ass alarm going off, you can still hear every little footstep he makes..... When the angle changes, the alarm is suddenly much quieter... Yet when you saw the store from the front counter, it's not that big. Certainly not big enough that changing to a different angle would make that much of a difference.

I'm 90% sure the video itself is real. The sound I'm 99% sure is not.

Forgot some stuff.

It is at night.... The first scene shows that. He climbs up the side of the building. The bright light behind him is the light in front of the store... Which would be right outside the front door... Which leads me to my next point.

The light outside the front door is just a bright light... The shadows don't seem to all be parallel, which to me says the light source is close. (this may again just be the video) I'm betting it's the same light that's in the background of the first scene... Probably a corner lot... Prime liquor store territory.

His diaper shorts as he's walking cracks me up.

The bottles falling down on his face? Awesome. Maybe snopes.com will figure out if it is real. I can't imagine the cameras following him, unless they were somehow broadcast to the owners house or somesuch.

I do wish all criminals were that stupid/funny/incompetent.
