My Most Pointless (Recent) Purchase

I just finished watching a pair of eBay auctions to the last second to make sure that I won. Pumped as I am from the thrill of victory, I must share.

I’ve hinted previously on the Dope that I am a fan of movies that normally get labeled “bad.” I can’t explain it any better. Ed Wood is my hero. I gladly spent $10 for a used VHS of Hulk Hogan in Santa With Muscles. I own a Korean edition of a film that starred John Wayne as Genghis Khan (and probably contributed to his death.)

Today, however, I made my most pointless purchase in recent memory. After rewatching Manos: the Hands of Fate yet again, I randomly searched eBay for “Manos”. As a result I found and eventually bid on and baught these two figurines. I have absolutely no need for 5 inch tall miniatures of Torgo and the Master and yet, I had to have them.

What completely pointless purchases have you made lately?

I bought a pack of 50 B&W old mysteries on CD. Was cheap, I think $14.
But I couldn’t stay interested in Bulldog Drummond long enough to watch 90 minutes to the end of the first movie.
The 30’s format is so stagy and over simplifed.

A year later sitting on the TV stand, and I still don’t care enough to sample the other 49 movies.
