But listen up when I say this… it was always gonna happen, sooner or later. We can say that now, with hindsight, but the Middle East was always gonna bust open, somewhere, somehow. Now it’s happening. It’s a region rife with feifdoms and nepotism and corruption. Lots of culture too, but the former outweighs the latter I rather think.

Besides I don’t think there was anything inevitable about this.
It is due first to the decision to invade (particularly without international support), second it was due to the incompetent plan that made no allowance for realities (and left huge arms dumps unsecured) and third it was due to the ideologically driven incompetence of the aftermath.
