Snuffing the Favicons in Firefox Menus?

I finally got around to updating my copy of Firefox (Mac) to 2.0… and am nonplussed by the appearance of Favicons in my bookmarks menu.
They’re slow, ugly, distracting, and mess up line spacing, so I’d like to get rid of them.
Unfortunately, the ‘about:config’’ settable preferences don’t seem to include a ‘turn off the favicons’ option, nor can I find any joy on the Firefox website.

Has anyone run across a method of of eliminating these things?

type “icon” into the filter box of the about:config screen; I think either the fav_icon or site_icon entry will do it. I have both set to false and don’t have them showing so it can be done.

I think they are nifty.

browser.chrome.site_icons -> false did it for me.

Thanks!

Agreed - they make it much easier to find things on long bookmark menus.
