DeLay’s quote is that Senator Obama is “… a very smart [Marxist] — he doesn’t let anyone know it.”
It’s useless to refute this attack by point to Obama’s declared positions, since DeLay’s claim is not that Obama is openly a Marxist but that he’s ‘secretly’ a Marxist. You would need to borrow DeLay’s mind-reading crystal ball to provide a refutation of this claim.

Uh, couldn’t you use those words to say pretty much anything about anybody?

Correct. Fortunately, that means this dumb accusation will only be listened to by people who are prone to believing this crap and wouldn’t have voted for Obama anyway. They say this stuff about Clinton, too. I wish they would tell me where their secret crystal ball is, because some of them acknowledge “knowing” she’s a socialist even though she has never actually said or done anything that qualifies as socialist.
Today’s Sacramento Bee describes how the feds are squeezing Delay’s pal, Rep. John Doolittle.
If this were “Law and Order”, you might say that if Doolittle flips on Delay, Delay is toast. But that’s TV.
