Homage to Our Founder, Rue DeDay - MMP

With absolutely no relevance to anything at all, I thought I’d dedicate this MMP to our dear-departed founder, Rue De Day who I secretly fantasize will some day return to dazzle us yet again with tales of Katcha and Soupo and his adventures with Stick. Who doesn’t miss his pithy descriptions of things that pop out of pets? Is there a dry eye when we fondly reminisce about Mondays gone by where we never knew but eagerly anticipated the results of delving through his fertile imagination?

Oh, we have valiantly soldiered on, many of us stepping up to grasp the standard of our proud society. And we do a damn fine job, too! Our diversity is our strength! We laugh at those who lack understanding of our camaraderie! We snerk at them! Ha, ha! They can only hope to someday gain our heights!

But our effort is pale, is it not, when held up to the light that is the shining heritage of our master’s Monday Morning Post? He was one of a kind, and his kind may never be known again in this world.

SNIFF!

Carry on! Talk amongst yourselves!

First?

Yes!!!

Can you tell it’s Monday and I have the day off?

Great OP, Puggy. I’ll go back and look for some of his OP’s and link them later…

GT

Oh well, second …

Nice OP, Pugs; I didn’t know Rue except via links to his past posts, but he could indeed tell a great tale! He does pop up from time to time on Live Journal, I’m told; maybe he’ll drop by here too.

Colder than cold here; I’m up and caffeinating even though it’s a holiday today. I do plan on getting back into bed shortly though.

That’s about all I have - Happy MMP, mumpers!

ETA: Bah, I knew it was too good to be true!

Alas, Rue De Day, I never knew ye…

Yanno, I could be snarky and suggest that **Rue ** doesn’t deserve a tribute for deserting us without even a fare-thee-well. I mean, really, who does he think he is, going off and having a life and not sharing the minute details with us every Monday? What makes him think job and family and responsibility and stuff like that there is more important than, well, US???

Yes, I’m bitter. It’s the bitterness of unrequited love. I never got to meet him because the big ol’ poopyhead refused to move closer to where I live. I bet he doesn’t even have a job or a family. I bet he’s just stringing us along, giggling with glee, even in his absence.

Or not.

There really was a clever point to this post, but it’s early and in single digits outside and despite being a holiday, it’s still a Monday. So I’ll just let it go.

But I do miss the randomness that is Rue.

I get to see Rue on skip’s board. It’s 17 here, and I have to work all day again.

doggio, how long since you’ve had a day off? I worry about you, hon…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here too. I also get to work today. It’ll be a shortish day though cause tonight is my men’s group over to the church and I want to go to that, like usual.

Rue does pop in at Skip’s Place from time to time. Ya’d think he’d poke his haid in here and at least say howdy wouldn’t ya?

Good OP there Puggy. Maybe he’ll do a vanity search, hang his haid in remorse and come see us. Or not. Those of you who know not of his story tellin’ abilities should read some of his bedtime stories. They are classic, I tells ya!

Who? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously – nice OP. Nothing more to report other than that; it’s another day of hectic let’s-work-[SO]'s-ass-off-to-cover-for-somebody-else’s-mistake-that’s-popped-up-in-production day here…

What, me bitter? Mad at anyone? Noooooooo…

Who is this Rue DeDay of whom you speak? And what, exactly, is an MMP? Strange rituals indeed!

Yeah, yeah, taunt us, Shibb. I do believe I’ve seen photographs of you and **Rue ** together. And since I know for a fact you exist, then he must exist.

So, whaddya say to that, huh??

:stuck_out_tongue:

I fully deny that I exist.

Deny all you want - I’ve got pictures. Somewhere. On my old computer, I think…

Oh, shibb exists alright. It’s welby who’s fictional. Say, swampy, why don’t you post a big ppppththththbbbibbbittt!!! to rue over there at Skip’s board for us.

I made homemade pizza for din din last night. It was reallly good. Tonight will be Cornish Game hens and sweet N.O.T.s.

Speaking of, taters, I read your post about daughter’s escapade. I think you handled it well. There’s no sense in over-reacting at this stage of the game. College is right around the corner and you can only hope that what you’ve taught her about values and responsibility have taken. She’ll be fine.

I have today off and if it warms up enough, I’m gonna join The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] for a spree to the dog park. I think I might wash the cat, too.

Actually, **welby ** does exist - as does his wife - they joined us for a waterborne adventure some months back. He was classy enough not to show up dressed in the tablecloth.

However, puggy, since I’ve never met you, I’m starting to wonder if you are, in fact, a figment of my imagination. I don’t recall receiving chocolate love offerings to convince me otherwise. :stuck_out_tongue:

cold cold cold cold cold cold cold **cold ** - it is downright brisk out there, and stoopit little dog keeps barking to be let out. How can she stand that frozen ground on her tender tootsies??

I need to get **FCD ** out of the house today. He spent the last two days mostly doing work-work, and last night he finally finished the slides for a presentation he’ll likely be doing tomorrow. Where can we go that’s warm, nearby, and not here? hmmmmmmmm

 It never got there??? I’ll just have to have strong words with that nice [del]chocoholic[/del] lady at the post office. Anyhoo, next time you’re down this way, give me a shout and we’ll do bubbalous.

Actually, I’ll be in the Orlando area the first week in April - coming to start moving my daughter’s crap out. Mini-fest, mayhaps??

I joined the MMP right before Rue left. I remember him well… and he is still missed. Great topic for an MMP, Puggy.

I have been so frickin’ busy this weekend! I tried to at least read the MMP, but I never got caught up. We’ll see if I can get caught up later today.

Friday I got an x-ray of my ankle, but I haven’t heard back yet. I’m pretty sure it won’t show anything, but you never know. It’s feeling a bit better.

Ok - I’m gonna go read the old MMP.

Is there a nice restaurant somewhere relatively nearby, FCM? How about taking in a movie? Or maybe a museum that a) is open, and b) you’d both be interested in?

As for Rue’s existence: I have personally met him. Twice. Of course, I didn’t ask for ID, so it may have been an impostor.

I agree with Puggy, Taters. Making too big a deal of it would probably make it worse, but she needs to be clear on the “my house, my rules” concept. Because that’s true, no matter where she lives (even if dorms and landlords don’t have curfews, they have other rules that must be respected).

I’ve emptied the dishwasher and had a several-layer toast breakfast (whole-grain toast, refried beans, ham, cheese - run under broiler - top with avocado slices) and need to get some stuff done.

Back after I have further accomplishments to report.

GT

Restaurants are a temporary no-go - we’re trying to get out of our old over-indulgent eating patterns, so we’re really not ready to get back to excessive portions of rich and/or greasy food. Movies - hate 'em! At least in the theaters around here - they’re old and dirty and full of noisy kids. Museum - well, I’d love to go to the National Portrait Gallery and see Stephen Colbert hanging by the bathrooms, but that would require walking outside in the cooooooold - I dunno about that.

yeah, I’m a wuss.
Once he drags his buns outta bed, we’ll see.
